What happened to LHC@home?
(Message 14629)
Posted 7 Sep 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: What happened? No new work units are being sent for a long time now. When will you start sending them again? If it continues like this people will start abondoning LHC@home for other projects. |

The Death Of LISA
(Message 14628)
Posted 7 Sep 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: These pathetic politicians will never understand the value of physics & astronomy. We find huge ammounts being allocated by the US government for defence related R&D (US$70 bn)& also for the National Institutes of Health (US$30bn) but they have very little for NASA (US$17 bn)& NSF(US$ 5 bn). US will pay dearly in the long run for neglecting physics & maths. |

LHC@home needs more publicity
(Message 11906)
Posted 13 Jan 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: I think one should not have too many projects running simultaneously because then there is a good chance that the computer would not be able to submit results in time and one would end up with less credit. |

How to reconfigure firewall to connect to project ?
(Message 11875)
Posted 9 Jan 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: I have recently downloaded BOINC on one of many computers connected by LAN at my workplace. When I typed in the URL in the required field I got the message that the URL is incorrect & not of any BOINC based project. On the message board I am gettingthe error message: Couldn't resolve hostname. How can I reconfigure the firewall to get past the problem? |

LHC@home needs more publicity
(Message 11854)
Posted 7 Jan 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: I feel greater efforts are needed to make students & teachers around the world aware of LHC@home. It still has very few members compared to SETI@home. I am pretty much sure that many more would like to join this project once they become aware of it. What do you say ? |

Unable to connect to any project
(Message 11852)
Posted 6 Jan 2006 by Atanu Maulik Post: I have downloaded BOINC to a computer with a always on broadband connection, but I can't connect to any project. Every time I type in the URL I am getting the error message: Localhost not found. I am also being prompted that the typed URL is incorrect, which is simply not true. Please help me out as it is getting on my nerves. |
