Fairer distribuiton of work(Flame Fest 2007)
(Message 15243)
Posted 30 Oct 2006 by Peter Cheung Post: I agree with WimTea... But the situation in LHC@Home is different, the time required to finish a WU varies a lot. Quite a lot of them get finished in a minute (or even few seconds) while some of them took >5 hours in my machine. If the system you suggest is implemented, the scheduler may receive too many requests when such short WUs are sending out. |

@Markku - Estimated WU Completion
(Message 8957)
Posted 27 Jul 2005 by Peter Cheung Post: It seems that the estimated to-completion time of the new batch of WUs (names start with wjun1D_...) is reduced. For the previous WUs, the estimated time is 20~21 hours in my machine (which would finish the WU in about 7 hrs), but for the new ones the estimated to-completion time is about 13:45. Yet it is still twice the actual running time. |

(Message 7543)
Posted 9 May 2005 by Peter Cheung Post: > If you work it out, 13d21h20m is 20000 minutes. The CPDN deadline is 356000 > minutes. Quite why they'd pick those numbers I can't tell you... > The deadline length of CPDN, 347 Days 5 Hours and 20 minutes, equals 500000 minutes. |
