CERN will be restarting the LHC around 20Feb.

It would be nice that! This would be a nice birthday gift! ;)

To translate, I use the translation tool of google! ;-)
A little rough sometimes but you can understand the general sense at least, and with the google bar: a link on a translated page, the target is translated..

I translated some important passages here.

The most interresting:

Management of a city

When you start a city, it just needs people, but it does not last and problems are beginning to emerge and the links that make it possible to address them.
The percentages right can make sure your city goes well, they should all be at 0% (except transport, which must be 100%).

Here are details of the time of occurrence, causes, and possible solutions consequence of the different problems you encounter or experience in the management of your city.

1) Unemployment
Appearance: From 50 inhabitants.
Cause: Increased population.
Possible consequences: Some residents are leaving the city to look for work elsewhere.
Solution: Add industries via the link ind your city (it unlocks from 50 inhabitants).
Tip: It is an industry all 3 people from 50 people to stay at 0% unemployment.

2) Lack of transportation
Appearance: From 100 inhabitants.
Cause: Increased population.
Possible consequences: Some people leave the city because they have had enough of gridlock.
Solution: Add transport via the link through to your city (it unlocks from 100 inhabitants).
Tip: It is an addition transportation every 4 people from 100 people to stay at 100% of transport.
Lack of transport paradoxically increases the chances of obtaining skyscrapers concentrating City

3) Crime
Appearance: From 300 inhabitants.
Cause: Increased population.
Possible consequences:
-- Violence sharply deteriorating urban transport
-- Factory Explosion removing an industry
-- Forest Fire deteriorating environment (where the population is more than 500)
Solution: we must strengthen the police via the link sec (available from 300 inhabitants).

4) Pollution
Appearance: From 500 inhabitants.
Cause: Increased population and above all industries.
Possible consequences:
-- Some residents are leaving the city to find some clean air.
-- Some shops were forced to close because of health conditions.
Solution: Provide parks in the city centre via the link around to your city (it unlocks from 500 inhabitants).

5) Businesses
The shops are a special case because they do not remedy a problem directly but can prevent industries closed for lack of opportunities and seem slightly correct unemployment and pollution.
They are available from 1000.

6) Other
Other problems may occur more rarely in your city:
-- Industries that closed for lack of opportunities (too many industry) or labor.
-- Businesses that close because of the lack of supply (too many compared to the industries).
-- Explosions of chemicals that can make up to 1000 dead and that happens when pollution is in the red.
-- Bombings of nuclear missile from Antiville.

I can't edit my post after so much time ...

IMPORTANT: The lack of transport paradoxically increases the chances of obtaining skyscrapers, by concentrating the city. Stop providing transport at 95% for more skyscrapers.

I don't understand anything about MyMiniCity. Is there a tutorial somewhere that's in English. (Most of what I poked at was in French and I'm not literate in French.)

It is written in the lower left quadrant:

To improve lhc@home, you only have to give the following links to your friends or post them in your blog. Each different click will improve lhc@home!

Increase population: http://lhchome.myminicity.com
Increase industry: http://lhchome.myminicity.com/ind
Improve the transport network: http://lhchome.myminicity.com/tra
Increase security: http://lhchome.myminicity.com/sec
Improve environment: http://lhchome.myminicity.com/env
Increase business: http://lhchome.myminicity.com/com

Ladyzguy - this world runs on mutual respect. You don't know who might read your posts or when, so have some respect for the rest of us and keep your four-letter words for an environment where you can be sure that offence won't be caused. I'd guess you don't have children, or you'd understand my comments.

Thank you for changing your sig, though. I appreciate it.

I agree too!

dbernat: Put your cache on 0.1! At least on the x86!
It you will need how long to run 43 units? There you remain 35!

Thank you, I have the answer to my question!
By charging 43 units on a x86 595MHz whereas one has Xeon 2.00GHz, where there is zero unit! Here how one puts 1 week!

In short: time that you finish 2 units, I made my 4 and passed again at another project!

I had 4 units, they finished.
Each lasted between 44 and 46 min. Having a dual core, that brings back the unit to 22-23min.

From there, how does those which spend 10 days to run their cache whereas the deadline is 6.5 days????

If you read part NEWS of the main page, you will have already a little idea why during months you receive anything.

If you adds that LHC@home was made for SIMULATE the future LHC, that the principal data are finished and LHC will be soon in service.
There thus remain last details to be calculated, therefore rare.

To provide work again relatively usually, one speaks about launching the Garfield program.

Does that answer your questions?

To finish, BOINC is voluntary work, if you are not happy, nobody retains you!

For having new work, it would be necessary that the last works in progress are finished.
Only after, "perhaps" new work will be distributed.

Therefore, if you want to usually have work, do not put a work cache higher than your means!
And, too, do not leave units a long time on your computer! Run them!

For what it should be added the fact that: "lhc is by nature a project which will have periods of work followed by a period of no work."

Sentence said and repeated at several places of the forum.
17) Message boards : Number crunching : WHY?? (Message 14462)
Posted 30 Jul 2006 by Profile Jack H
Post:
Simply, like known as very much places on this forum, LHC@home is particular.
There is work not permanently, this one is put on line according to the needs.
LHC@home, at least until startup of the LHC, is used to simulate various calculations. After the startup, various possibilities are possible.
Thus, it is usual to run other projects, for not remain without work.

If there is work on LHC@home, beautiful; if not, it's necessary to wait PATIENTLY.

There is new work when there is no work in progress. With little thing nearly.
Therefore, no moment of day very precise. To be connected all the time and hope manager communicates with LHC at the good moment. There is work only a few minutes since some time!

In 00:34:43 and 00:43:40, it is already finished!
Let us hope for how the following do not delay too much! And that the situation come back like before.
It there does not have so a long time, work was certainly rare but DISTRIBUTED!
