Posted 11 Jul 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: I've got a massive variation in WU times from 200-28,000s!! So I can't help you on WU times I'm afraid. Went upto ~1.25 million tasks! Dropping now |

Posted 5 Jul 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: It's a BOINC thing & I'm guessing that setting is for a multi socket system? Well either way if you have dual core CPU then set % usage to 50% then only 1 core will be used, I'd suggest doing it in BOINC manager rather than online. |

New CERN Project--ATLAS@home
(Message 26612)
Posted 3 Jul 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: A bit more info & a clickable link :P http://atlasathome.cern.ch/index.php ATLAS is a particle physics experiment taking place at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, that searches for new particles and processes using head-on collisions of protons of extraordinary high energy. Petabytes of data were recorded, processed and analyzed during the first three years of data taking, leading to up to 300 publications covering all the aspects of the Standard Model of particle physics, including the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. Large scale simulation campaigns are a key ingredient for physicists, who permanently compare their data with both "known" physics and "new" phenomena predicted by alternative models of the universe, particles and interactions. This simulation runs on the WLCG Computing Grid and at any one point there are around 150,000 tasks running. You can help us run even more simulation by using your computer's idle time to run these same tasks. Sounds interesting :) |

Posted 22 May 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: Re no3, not my old overclocked rig :) If any of them are on Team AnandTech I could try PMing them. But short of going through every single active user on my team is their a quicker way I can see if any invalids are coming from TA? [edit] nm theirs only 8 active on our team!, could only check 6 as 2 were 'hidden'. No invalids but 1 Linux user had a single errored WU. Could you post the list of people with invalids?? If not LMK if any are TA members (of the unknown 2 I'm pretty sure 1 of them would of spotted any invalids btw - have now PMed 1). |

Posted 13 Apr 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: LHC@Home has a large user base, if nothing else helps, you could still configure homogenous redundancy level 2 (the basic 4-classes OS level, ignoring the CPU vendors) What does that mean? |

Posted 1 Feb 2014 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: Ok thanks for the reply, that sounds far too complicated! ;) I'll settle for just leaving BOINC to grab WUs when their available, good timing that I restarted BOINC on the CPU, just got some LH work :). |

Posted 2 Dec 2013 by [TA]Assimilator1 Post: They do, it's in the BOINC log file, lol. :) Like this :- 02/12/2013 17:49:39 | LHC@home 1.0 | Project has no tasks available Get the log file by pressing ctrl+shift+E, or via advanced tab in advanced mode. What I want to know is if they have any sites announcing when/if they will have new WUs? |
