What's the latest on this Eric?
(I've not monitored results in a while, & just caught up with this thread)

Ah good to hear 1 of them replied! :)

One of us)

We're all one team. As I see 12k active users and 20k active hosts it is amazing that a vast impact project has.
SO I urge everyone to check their error and invalid and inconclusive tasks on regular basis to see any kind of irregularities so it could be fixed asap.

When I said 1 of them, I was referring to a user with major host problems, as per this thread.
I never said they weren't part of the project, btw most of us are in different teams ;) :P.

Other CPU intensive tasks shouldn't cause any errors.

Setting a weeks worth of work is too long really, as you discovered when you got more 8hr WUs. I usually set a cache of 3-4 days.

The only way I know to see how long a WU is going to take is to look at the time 'remaining' in the tasks list. So no you can't 'cherry pick' the longer WUs.

And yea LHC often runs out of WUs, that's normal ;), which is why I have it running alongside other projects.

I only see 3 you have as invalid, 2 of those were also invalid for other hosts, looks like those were dodgy WUs. The 3rd maybe down to your machine, but I wouldn't worry about just 1, just keep an eye on your tasks page to make sure they don't grow in number.

Btw why have you cancelled so many WUs?

Host linked as someone seems to of forgotten to do that ;) http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/results.php?hostid=10327477

Not sure if this host has already been flagged, but it's got loads of invalids.

Eric
It also worth to put a message related to this issue in BOINC Manager Notices, so every user of total 120k across the world will check their hosts against your list and make appropriate action.
It's unfair to users just silently block their hosts. We need to explain and make some proposals how to fix it.

This host wasn't silently blocked, Eric emailed him, at least twice I believe, & I sent the guy a PM months ago.

But I agree about the BOINC notices, I mentioned that a post or 2 back ;)

I have now asked for another dozen or so hosts to be banned;
they all produce more invalids than valids. Eric.

That host is still a problem?, yikes!

Even if it isn't his fault he should of replied, what about using the BOINC notices feature to grab his attention? lol

Thx Eric :)

Hello,

Im posting here, because im getting "Computation Errors" in mostly of LHC Tasks

I do have a OC computer and i have done a lot of tests lately to find if it was from the overclock

I have done Tests with LINPACK, Prime95, and Memtest x86, Memtest x64, and windows mem test.

none had give me an error with the current OC.

I do Compute for World grid comunity and other without errors.

Can anyone advise?

Best regards

Errm, the natural next step would be to run some tasks with it not overclocked at all ;).
Btw Pirme95 isn't the best of stress testers anymore, I found my rig could pass it for 24hrs yet cause errors on F@H WUs. I use OCCT now, which so far if my rig passes that for 24hrs it's good for any DC project.

Mind you going by Eric's post it may just be bad WUs!

Slightly modded it to this :-

Hi
Your PC 10137504 is creating a lot of invalid results & is causing problems for the LHC@home community. Please can you sort it out or disconnect that machine from the project.
Translated by Google, apologies for any errors!

Thank you.

Afraid I don't get your maths.

2% threshold?? That's a ridiculously low limit!! wth?? Makes the quota nearly utterly pointless!

Re the 10137504 host, the problem is with that machine & the guy needs to sort it out, I hadn't realised it was the same host returning duds from 2 months ago!!

I sent him a (polite) PM a few days ago but I don't know if aqvario speaks English seeing as he's Polish.

Anyone here speak Polish?
