On one of my slower machines (PII 450/Win98se, I aborted a WU after 109 hours that still had over a 60 hours to go, and less than 15 to Deadline.

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/result.php?resultid=1362189 shows a 340Hr completion estimate in BoincView (after running for almost 5 hours). Granted it's on my slowest machine (a PIII 450) but still . . .

LHC and CPDN still have 4.19 on their download page. All the other projects link to the Boinc download page which lists 4.45 as the current recommended release.

Don't know why the completion time is so low, but the machine is actually a PIII/450, not a PII I'll have to take a look at it when I get home.

(If you look at the other results, they are all closer to what would be expected)

That setting is only valid if you connect via modem, but is buggy at best.

The developers are aware of this, but all modem related problems seem to be at the bottom of the list(from what I've read in the forums, anyway)

Basically -113 means that youare already running a copy of boinc_gui.

If you have un-installed/re-installed recently, make sure that only one shortcut to the EXE is in your startup folder

Runs fine for me. CC4.13 and Seti/LHC/Pirates/CPDN/Predictor (They have a shipping notice from DELL 0 The new server is on the way - Finally)

What specifically does LHC say when you try to register?

Double Check that you have no leading or trailing spaces in either the URL or in your access code

On the posts in this thread, Your sig wasn't dislaying, I removed the extra bracket. I meant remove it on the My Account page. the format is
"left bracket img src= "

In theory, yes.

In practice, it's a toss up. CPDN appears to be operating normally. All of my machines have a WU so don't know if they are currently handing them out. I haven't gotten a new LHC WU in days (they were having hardware problems/maintenance. Seti seems to be handing them out, Predictor is still waiting on their new Dell server, Pirates is on internal testing only

Also, edit your sig - remove the ">" after img and before src

I got this about 5 times, then 5 more WUs downloaded normally. Could this be related to server load?

Well, I'm getting the file size error, followed by the MD5 error.

100) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC GUI Won't Initialize (Message 3291)
Posted 6 Oct 2004 by keputnam
Post:
"Failed to cleanup the Windows Socket Interface" generally means that you have tried to start the GUI twice.

For the other. Do you have BOINC set to run as a service? If so, the GUI may be erroring because the service is running.

any entries in the NT/W2k Log files?
