Upon closer inspection,what happens is that after the network restart, downloads start, then stall and as a result,the through put steadily drops

at that point, NO data is being transferred

Still have the extremely slow downloads

If I stop and re-enable network access I get around 450 - 600 KBps on two downloads. This eventually slows to 3-4KBps on each

Stop/start access and it jumps back up again,

for a while

Finally convinced ATT to come out and look at my router

When I upgraded service a few months ago, they swapped out the old one, and the tech didn't configure the new one properly

Connect speeds to the router itself are much better and actual throughput is almost an order of magnitude faster

Almost a whole day with no verify errors!

over the last couple of weeks, about 80% of my Atlas tasks wind up with a validate error and several have run for more than a day a half, while stuck on 99% (2.5 - 3 hour average task length for the ones that do complete and verify)

I've made no changes on my end at all

Anyone else seeing strange things with Atlas?

Thanks,Toby

I've upped the memory to 5 GB for Atlas, so we'll see

As for the old VMs The VM Manager shows 4 and BOINC Manager show four running VM WUs

Got home this evening to find only two apps running on my HT hex core system

then finally noticed that ATLAS was using 11 of them!!

For a process that runs in Windows,I can use something like this

<app_config>
<project_max_concurrent>2</project_max_concurrent>
<app_version>
<app_name>ATLAS</app_name>
<cmdline>nthreads 2</cmdline>
<avg_ncpus>2</avg_ncpus>
<plan_class>mt</plan_class>
</app_version>
</app_config>

To limit the number of "CPUs" used

but this gives me an error of

Entry in app_config.xml for app 'ATLAS', plan class 'mt' doesn't match any app versions

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I've got an older P4 3GHz Hyper Threaded system for which I just began requesting WUs after working through some problems unrelated to BOINC or LHC

LHC has just downloaded 6x66 hr WUs, each with a 6.5 day deadline. Granted my CPU runs BOINC full time, that is still juuuuust barely enough time, assuming nothing else goes wrong or I decide to actually use that computer for something else. And yes, there should be enough time to complete all WUs for other projects by their deadlines, even with this deluge.

Still, does this sound like it is cutting it really close or am I just paranoid ?

TIA

i have win 98 se machines that when running both predictor and lhc, if both projects have pre-empted work they will still add time to cpu time irregardless of which other project is actualy useing the cpu.

this results in high credit claims

A known problem on Win98 boxes if you have "Leave in Memory" selected.

Create a separate location for that box and uncheck that option.
