Is this a private farm, or buissiness? If private, how do you cooling down this, and what does you wife say to that room and electric costs :)

Why... perhaps because
- the SwissTeam.NET lead the Score :)
- my boss say, that i can use the pc for this project (he like the cern)
=> thats the reason why i lead the score :)
- i like the fact that we do something that has a effect that we can "see"
- cern is located in switzerland .. parts of them.
- i can turn on my pc and it is like roulette to win a WU :)
- a friend say: "distributed computing isn't a race, its a marathon". And LHC is really a hard marathon, without enough water :)
- it isn't SETI :)

A Game Producer say :it's done when it's done.
For LHC@Home it is: It has work, when it has work. Don't ask every week.

Hi, im not the fastest user, i'm user nr 2 :)
I have something about 100 PCs working at LHC. I have set LHC to 90%, and Rosetta at 10% and i set cache to "0.1 Day".
If there is fresh work, i get 1 WU at normal PC, 2 WU at HT's and 4 at very fast DualCores.
If too many fill the buffers up and let us wait many many days, its a shame.
If you have a flat and are allways online, please set it as low as possible!!

I'd like to get work at the second day too, and not only on the first 5 hours :)
Do i need to set it to 5 Day's (joke!)

Id like to thank the "Aargauische Kantonsschule" , Schatzalp Davos, ric, Renato and Stoipi for the performance of the computers. And all other Members of the great Team that is leading LHC@Home since more than a year :)

No, i don't say the Name of this Team. This is only a "Thank you" msg :)

cya at 10 Mio Credits :)

Who is this "ksba"?

Don't ask :) - Don't wake me up :-)

What i want say is in my profile. But in near future i find the time to update it. :) It will be translated in english soon.

We are just a 'litte school' with a admin (me) that like to use some idle CPU cycles for dc and his team.

Last words ... "dc isn't a sprint, it's a marathon!"

I have this too, read. Client 4.25. But i get work, 1-2min later.
I don't see any reason that i upgrade my little farm.
If i really don't get any work, Ok, than is the time to worry about this..
But still not now :-)

I have just gone into view computers in my account clicked on the right machine and went down to the end which was blank and set that to home. Is this correct?

i think yes. :)

Now do an update pref on the Client, and you'll see "home" as venue :)

The zip file has downloaded into its normal folder in my machine.

Nothing to do with the folder :)
Every maschine has an entry where it is.. And there you can set it to "home" "work" "school" and so ... you need to set this setting new if it is still "0" or so.

Have a look at "http://lhcathome.cern.ch/hosts_user.php" and if this maschine has some "funny" settings.

So, i reached...

So it's time to made a break and look back at what we found.
We found a place to invest the CPU-Power, we find friends that share with us the same great hobby. We find the chance to make anything positive with all the power. I think we all do a very good job here, and i would thank all the developer for the good an STABLE client they give us. Sure, we don't have all time workunits, but i'm very happy that the clientsoftware (sixtrak) is much more stable as many dc soft i saw. Sure i saw the fortan bug too :) but not to much. Sure there was a time the client made a hard game with all the harddives an the shorten 0-units .. but we all are here, we all have fun at this project.

Ah, and to "juan.lopez" ... if you like to be faster than i, it's oki. I don't need a first place, i have good friend found in my team, and i think you too in your's. Let's us do some more work at this nice dipole magnets :)

And i still like to wear my t-shirt :)

[i'm sorry for my spelling, i'm hungry, tied and i can't speak english .. :)]

oh, perhaps i can place a commercial break :) .. Thanks mr. Dell, now all my pc at work are from there .. :)

I run boinc over Network, and the access-time is really good.
Networkserver 4GByte Ram, Raid5, Switched-GigaBit. It serve the Boinc disk-access of 100 PC, only a litte bit slower than run it local, but very much easier to make updates and service. Only slowdown problem is if all access the same time, like the time where lhc has more 0-Time units. :)

Who sell me a for the 0-Time Units a 10Gbyte-Ram-Drive :-) :-)

won't work. this type of maschines are not fast enough for predictor-run-in 90 min.
it's not my maschine, it's more the pc of my sister or other word-using dau. If no project out, that i can run on maschines like this, and there are extream many maschines of this type, i can't run any clients on this.

It must be possible to run an easy-dau conform project.. but this is all out of this thread :-)

Grumpf :-)
Agreed, but i'm still unhappy :-)
Now some of my maschines, that not run the whole time need to switch to more "unsexiest" projects. But you're right and i'm happy to help... with less power. ;-)

[btw, i use 4.25 too, its the 'best-of-both-world']

btw is there a project with week's as deathline, that i can run on maschines that only run hours per week ... ?

And the OutputDevice will be the TV, and you write down the Results manual from Screeen :-) :-)

Best Idea is still the "let the Gforce-Nvidia process some units" :-)
