The only thing changed was, that i had set the project to no more work last year before christmas. I simply reenabled LHC to get new work and the error occured. I have absolutely no idea what to do...

Ulrich Metzner, what's your total space on your disk? Maybe the "use no more than 80%" is the cause.
The total size of the partition is 60 GB.

I'm using BOINC client version 5.7.5.
Here is the disk usage report:

I get this message from the LHC server:

03.01.2007 13:16:13|lhcathome|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user
03.01.2007 13:16:13|lhcathome|Requesting 16492 seconds of new work
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 502]
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: No work sent
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Message from server: No disk space (YOU must free 1737.3 MB before BOINC gets space). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.
03.01.2007 13:16:17|lhcathome|Deferring scheduler requests for 1 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds

I have set this preferences:
Disk and memory usage
Use no more than 8 GB disk space
Leave at least
(Values smaller than 0.001 are ignored) 0.1 GB disk space free
Use no more than 80% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

The free space on the disc is >21 GB and the only bigger thing is climate prediction with a usage of 2.44 GB.

Now what is the problem here?

Does not matter. Once it is full, it is full and you won't get work. If it is BOINC only, set the parms to use it all ... leave any free to 0 ... but, if you are running Einstein@Home or CPDN that is way too small ...
For CPDN it's way too low but for Einstein, Seti and LHC it was always fine until now :/
And setting 'leave at least...' to 0 was absolutely false, cause it was interpreted as 100MB. So the guys at Einstein recommended setting it to 0.001 ;)

Guess i'll have to try with 224 MB, but i really don't like to do that...

[edit] It is far from full. There are ~120 MBytes free...

Just a bit low if you ask me.....
Use no more than 0.16 GB disk space
... it's a 160 MByte RAM-disk ;)

Sorry, but at Einstein this also was the first (wrong) answer (Einstein corrected it at their end!!, not mine!):

My preferences are as follows since > 1 year !!!
Do work while computer is running on batteries?
(matters only for portable computers) no
Do work while computer is in use? yes
Do work only between the hours of (no restriction)
Leave applications in memory while preempted?
(suspended applications will consume swap space if 'yes') yes
Switch between applications every
(recommended: 60 minutes) 60 minutes
On multiprocessors, use at most 1 processors
Disk and memory usage
Use no more than 0.16 GB disk space
Leave at least 0.001 GB disk space free
Use no more than 99% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory
Network usage
Connect to network about every
(determines size of work cache; maximum 10 days) 1.5 days
Confirm before connecting to Internet?
(matters only if you use a modem) yes
Disconnect when done?
(matters only if you use a modem) no
Maximum download rate: no limit
Maximum upload rate: no limit
Use network only between the hours of
Enforced by versions 4.46 and greater (no restriction)
Skip image file verification?
Check this ONLY if your Internet provider modifies image files (UMTS does this, for example).
Skipping verification reduces the security of BOINC. no

So, what has changed and is the problem now? At Einstein it was their end, not mine!!

Hi everyone,

i have a little problem, i didn't had before:
LHC@home - 2006-01-15 02:26:43 - Sending request to scheduler: http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi
LHC@home - 2006-01-15 02:26:46 - Scheduler RPC to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi succeeded
LHC@home - 2006-01-15 02:26:46 - Message from server: No work sent (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated) Not enough disk space (only 22.7 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.
LHC@home - 2006-01-15 02:26:46 - No work from project
LHC@home - 2006-01-15 02:26:46 - Deferring communication with project for 1 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes, and 0 seconds
I run BOINC on a 160 MB Ramdisk on a notebook, because of overheating from normal disk. This has been functional since > a year... Now, after the XMas outage it suddenly complains about not enough disk space :? There are ~120 MB of Ramdisk free??? So what is the problem???

Although you had a very nice discussion here, nonetheless this doesn't barely fit my question. Maybe LHC has another strategy in dispatching wu's to the clients, but this doesn't explain why especially this wu's are spread this way, where the major part of wu's are definitely NOT spread this way. Just take a look at your own result table. Normally wu's are spread out to different clients in a matter of minutes. Only if a result times out, another one is dispatched 'out of time'.

So please stop this discussion and take a look at your own results and make a decent attendance.

Hi everyone,

i have some strange WU's in my results table:
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/workunit.php?wuid=603600
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/workunit.php?wuid=593592
Look at the Result IDs and i ask myself, why are [delete:n't] the others still NOT send? If they aren't send to anybody, it's no wonder i get no credit and they remain pending. Could someone involved take a look at that please?

[edit] corrected double negation ;)

Yes indeed, for multi project crunching this deadline is way too short. Just recently Einstein raised their deadline from 7 to 14 days. This step here is very counterproductive.

Not quite sure about that, cause for that, they have a very, very long and stoney way to go. As the client is right now it is like an usual pre alpha toy. It has many interesting, though absolute useless and unfunctional, options to play with, but none of them works somehow barely near to production quality.

What BOINC CC are you using? I still use the last useable BOINC CC 4.19 and have no problems here.

I noticed the error and mentioned it in this board.
After a while it was solved, sorry, don't know by whom or by itself, i edited only the thread title.
