I actually did that a couple of weeks ago. How good the paste it I don't now.
But after that cleaning and pad for paste change it has 72°C max under BOINC load. I don't run anything on the GPU anymore.

Well, I did run on a Laptop a long time without knowing the temps. Now that one is only frequently on but it's running with TThrottle.

CPU Throttle is set to 80°C degrees, but that is high. When I regularly clean the cooler 75°C would be enough.

Since the GPU is in your case an integrated one you have to find out the right temp yourself.

Oh, my CPU did clock down at 82°C. And night time is better running since usually the ambient temp is going down.

Thanks for the hint. I thought since this is a Mac thread and he is talking about his new toy that his problem is there.

Post:
It looks like there is a small misunderstanding of the situation.
The only available MAC executable has probelms and therefore it was withdrawn.
There is no older version available as far as I understand the situation.

Meens: As long as there is no new one released to public you won't get work even if there would be 100000 WUs available because there is no suitable executable for your system.

Hope I got that right, if not feel free to correct me.
45) Message boards : Number crunching : How is the SSE3 thing coming along? (Message 24192)
Posted 9 Jul 2012 by Christoph
Post:
It looks like I wasn't clear enough in my post.

I had the server side in mind.

They have right now SSE3 specified there and some hosts with that get the right app. So, put PNI additional at the server side to the specification for that app.

Posted 9 Jul 2012 by Christoph
Post:
I guess both should be specified.

Unless it is sure that also older BOINC versions do report PNI instead of SSE3.

Otherwise those will be left out.

These tasks are a symptom of the project running out of disk space.

Since several servers are 'disabled' I guess the admins are working on it.

Hi,

it looks like several if not all old posts are gone. I did check virtual machine set up http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/forum_thread.php?id=3438 which count is 6 but there are only 3 posts there.

Corrupted tasks? http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/forum_thread.php?id=3436

49) Message boards : Number crunching : Merge your hosts?? (Message 23733)
Posted 21 Nov 2011 by Christoph
Post:
Hi all, I just got the idea to check my computers page here and discovered two hosts which were actually the same.

Not a big surprise considering the necessary disconnects and reconnects due to url changes.

That means, our host count is over inflated by 'old' hosts which are still here and active but received a new host ID after re-connecting.

To merge your own hosts,

1. go to 'your account'
2. got to 'computers on this account' (could be phrased different)
3. choose 'show all computers'
4. choose 'merge by name'

Regards,

Christoph

The answer should be in the old home page file? under 'Describing your project in detail'?

Anyway, I would say, copy your explanaition to that place when you do your server works.
It is easy to understand and that is what should be there.
51) Message boards : Number crunching : Check box "Stay logged in" not working (Message 22994)
Posted 11 Sep 2011 by Christoph
Post:
Ah, there could be something. I have still the old url in my bookmarks. I will change the bookmark and see what happen.

[edit] So, after clicking on 'home' and setting a new bookmark, still the same. Then I did trie the version with 'index.php' at the end.

That did the trick.

Now my Bookmark reads 'SIXTRACK'. The old one was 'LHC@home', the 'bad' new one 'LHC@home - Beam Dynamics'

So with http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/index.php the Bookmark deafult is 'SIXTRACK' and that works for me.

I find it still strange, since the routing should all go to one page and for that page the cookie for the log in should be safed? I don't know about all that stuff, so my guessing can be totaly wrong.

I have alsways to go to my account first and log in again. The check box "stay logged in on this computer" is checked. As per default. But even now, calling the account page over a second tab, it is asking me for my username and PW.

Hi All,
BBC Radio 4 podcast of Material World (10/Sept/2009) has an interview with Steve Myers (apparently in charge of ops). See link http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/material. Good stuff.

Hello all,

I just checked this already old discussion. I don\'t remember where, but I once read, that the scientist request to not delet the units. Tha\'s why they are still there. Some time last year (or even two years ago) after the update of the server code I did merge old machines. That had been possible only then because the introduced option \'marge by name\'. I received an error. But it was the opposite of the expected. ALL machines merged to the latest one! No idea, if that is still working or if that bug had been fixed.

Kind regards,

Christoph

Hi Neasan, thanks for the update. Just now I'm online over UMTS and yes, it is working. All work uploaded and the normal reply for the scheduler request received. I'm sorry to hear that you are not allowed to upgrade. Hope that will change sometime in the future.

Thank you for the fast reply and explanation PovAddict. Hopefully the admins see this soon, with beginning of next week UMTS will be my best (and often only) chance to connect to the internet for three month. So I will see when it works. Hopefully soon.

Dear Neasan and Alex, looks like I have to add one point to your to do list. I am not able to fetch the scheduler list when I'm connected to the Internet over my UMTS cellular phone. Even in times when there was work around it did not succeed. I participate in three other projects also, and none of them have this trouble. Maybe you can check, if there is some server setting/timeout preventing this? I would like to be able to do my part on the job even when I am under way, which is quite often. Hope you can find something.

Hallo, I only just now also recognized that all the WUs are still sitting there. Obviously the upload/download & scheduler services are not running. But in my eyes the server status page is not very accurate on these two programs. even when work was flowing previously, they always had the state "disabled". Also since a few weeks there are 3 work units "in progress", which should have either been returned by now for sure, or be re-distributed due to meeting deadline. Hope Alex and Neasan will get this fixed soon, at least that the work is flowing out. The correct indication on the server status page is nice to have, but of course just now not priority.

Good luck, Christoph
