FYI, you might need to check your app_config.

<avg_ncpus>1.0</avg_ncpus>

is no longer passed to the VM

You need

<cmdline>--nthreads 1</cmdline>

I believe that the backend services make WU on demand so a low amount in the queue is conceptually fine

Its more a question to the BOINC developers, there is not really infrastructure in BOINC to work with another VM solution.

The point of the VM solutions were to make it easier for the scientists, not having to port the code to different architectures. Since Apple hasn't finished Rosetta for VMs to emulate x86 on Arm then it would be significant work for the scientist to port.

I do get a few per week, I don't really know how to fix it and overall its less than 1%, so I just abort them.

Thomas, yours seems to be OK, the Vbox version is quite old. I assume maybe you didn't want an 8 core WU, so you can lower this in the settings.

Post:
I use the --memory_size_mb one, since I force atlas to use 1 WU and unlimited on the web settings this tells BOINC each WU use 10 GB, since BOINC thinks its using 10 GB anyway I just let it go with 10 GB.

I'm getting some ATLAS at the moment, maybe the project doesn't have enough priority?

ATLAS Long only works on Linux if you run native so, as a windows user you'll never get these.

I think if you have don't done many tasks then there is error in how the remaining time calculated, it should get better over time.

Hi All,

I updated to 22.04, as per normal the permission for the boinc directories are wrong.

Also here there was change to the permissions with the pre-release version of BOINC so to revert you can follow these instructions:

93) Questions and Answers : Windows : Is this normal? (Message 46641)
Posted 14 Apr 2022 by Toby Broom
Post:
The reporting of data in windows is due to how virtualization works in windows.

For the CPU, its actually one of the VBoxHeadless.exe processes.

For the ram you can see it in a tool from Sysinternals called VMMap, its sort of hidden since the virtualbox driver allocates so its allocated to the driver not to the process like it would be normally.

If "boinc" is the username of your BOINC account you may try this:
su - boinc -c VirtualBox

I tried this but it asks me for a password which I never set and couldn't find any documentation on

It running WUs at the same time though so there is performance loss there.

Thanks for looking.

I'm not sure what I can do about the network, I have the fastest connection that is available to me at up to 10 GB/s, the connection from the squid server in my house is only 1 GB as is most of the computers so I could upgrade the NICs so that all are running on 10 GB all the way though.

It seems sort of regular pattern
