And not only are there new units waiting, so is the Garfield application! :-)

Would there be permanently work for the garfield application ?

Btw. I have also the problem to get some WUs. The server status shows about 15K with a disabled down-/upload server and scheduler.

I think a reset project could help.

Exactly the same message/problem I have. When we all have it, it must be a LHC problem.

The upload and download servers and the scheduler are still disabled. Until the servers are not enabled by the staff, there will not WUs for download !
Please at the server status here : http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php

Please be patient.

This is also posible with MacOS with CrossOver Beta. This is a enhanced version of wine, which allows to let windows binaries runing on MacOS (Intel), too. I had really bad performance with wine, but with CrossOver the preformance is OK.

I sometimes tried to install some projects on my machine which hadn't a Mac app and I always got an error message,I don't remember what they were. Nothing of the kind happened with LHC ...

There is a list of the different projects, there supported platforms and requirements at the BOINC WIKI :
http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Choosing_a_BOINC_Powered_Project

In short, MacOS X is supported by the productive projects SETI, SIMAP, WCG, Rosetta, Predictor, Einstein and SZTAKI. This are all productive projects execpt LHC and CPDN and BBC CPDN...
And the alpha and beta projects SETI BETA, Leiden Classic, Docking@home (is searching for MacOS users !), and RALPH.

It looks like your second computer did not get any WUs.
LHC has only sometimes WUs, and if there are WUs it could be that the are very fast downloaded by other systems.
I recommend you to join one or more other BOINC based projects, if you wish to keep your systems crunching if LHC has no work.
There is a overview of the different project at the BOINC WIKI : http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Choosing_a_BOINC_Powered_Project

Option 2 :
Install a premium service for 5$ per month that reads the "WorkUnits available" Counter from the Website every hour and immediately EMail/Message/Phone all customers when the Counter is like >1000 or so *g*

What is about to start a thread, in which the first person which see new work, posts a notice if new work is available ? - If you subscribe to the thread, you will get an email, if anyone posts into this thread.
53) Message boards : Number crunching : Communication deferred (Message 14278)

how do I turn off the communication deferred stuff?

Currently the LHC communication is deferred by 167:59:10
And the number will increase rather then should there be no work avaialbale in 167 hours and 59 minutes. :(

Any suggestions?

It is OK. The boinc client increases the connection intervall on every non successfull connection attempt. For example if no work is available or the boinc client could not connect to the project servers.
This should prevent that the boinc clients made a "DDOS attack" by flooding the projects servers with requests.

Hey ya'll...

Why is there never any work from LHC@home? Is my computer hooked up to this project correctly? Einstein@home and the other projects all grind right along.

thanks.

From the FAQ (http://lhcathome.cern.ch/FAQ.html#1.4) :

1.4 Server says out of work, why?
LHC@home calculations consist of many separate studies. Some studies can be started only after the previous have been analysed. We are doing our best to give out work at all times, but sometimes we just need to analyse old results before we can give out more. When this happens, please contribute to some other BOINC project(s) until we are able to submit new work. (Of course you can always participate to many BOINC projects simultaneously). You can find list of public BOINC projects here.

There's no LHC client for the Mac so you won't ever get work. Best try a different project.

At the boinc wiki is a table with the supported OSes on the different projects available : http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=BOINC_Powered_Project

Steve Cressman has posted on the seti boards (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=30674#305353), that he can not anymore login to the LHC site.
He gets the error message, that the account was not found. - He is also unable to login and post to the message boards (error : account did not exists). - The reason, why I post this here....
Can the admins please help him.

His original post on the seti@home forum :

LHC has lost my account. Now I can't even log in to tell them over there that they lost my account. All I get is user not found. Can't get to the forums because it says I need to login but i can't login because it says don't exist. Can someone please post at LHC that I want my account back. Same name as here. Thanx.
Account No. 3254

Never mind. Just got it to work with Internet Exploder. Don't understand why LHC could not find me while using FireFox. Started up Exploder hoping that the auto login was set for LHC but it was not. When trying with FF it would say no user with that email. Started up Exploder and entered my email addy at LHC and it was able to send me my account KEY. Now back using FF and was able to login at LHC.

Scratches head in wonder as I post.
59) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : FreeBSD port (Message 13326)
Posted 11 Apr 2006 by Dotsch
Post:
I find your posting offense, displaced and incompetent. You have to respect the reasons of the project not to relase a binary for every unix. Also you have to respect, that the would not release the source code.
Why do you not let the linux binaries run in the linux emulation under FreeBSD ?

I'd like to know what the average work unit size is and what the results size is.

The WU is about 25 KBs, and the result file about 35 KBs.
