What's the point of writing the same kind of message again and again?

Answer: to convince the project admins that this is a real problem that affects a LOT of users and is not going to go away on its own, so they need to stop ignoring it. Clearly they know about it: it's been going on for several days now, and numerous private messages have been sent to several of them.

You assume too much. They don't necessarily drop in here everyday. Also PMs are not forwarded to their private email addresses unless they set their prefs that way. Even if their PMs forward to their email inbox they don't necessarily read that inbox everyday. And even if they do they might have othetr messages in that inbox that appear more urgent. Don't assume that we are the most important people in their world just because we are BOINCers.

Also, the Tasks-in-Progress keep growing, so somebody's there.

Again you assume too much. If there are sufficient Tasks-Ready-To-Send the Tasks-In-Progress can grow until they reach the limit. Don't assume what that limit is and don't assume plenty of crunchers won't do all sorts of weird/innovative/stupid things that render that limit inefffective.

So it appears that they don't consider this important yet, even just to communicate to us volunteers.

You don't realize that like the rest of us you've gone down the rabbit hole, Alice. Here nothing is what it appears to be.

Even worse, this problem has apparently happened before.
So, that's the point of writing the same kind of message again and again. Until they believe that this is a big problem that needs to be fixed!

OK, now I'm hearing some anger and frustration :)

One final thought... don't assume that any one of them can fix the problem. I have a strong hunch only 1 of the whole lot has the permissions required to fix this and it might take a while before he can even be contacted.

Thanks, Henry. But I remain unconvinced. The mounting and cumulative secondary indicia betray their indifference.

Yet they have told us nothing, and it's still broken. So it appears that they don't consider this important yet, even just to communicate to us volunteers. I emailed Eric.

What did he say?

I suspect that those Project members that had the big crunching farms have all gone to T4T...
...
Tom

Not likely. T4T currently limits tasks to one per computer (not even one per cpu). Not much there for big crunching farms...

Neasan,

According to this thread this is a very simple fix.

It\'s needed.

A lot of your loyal supporters have asked for your help.

Why haven\'t you responded?

Thank you.

This WU is stuck...

This happens quite often since LHC@home went from minimum quorum 3, initial replication 5 to minimum quorum 2, initial replication 2. My stuck WUs from this year only:
3674999;
3737300;
3753405.
IMHO, possible reasons may be:
1. the results do not much (No consensus);
2. LHC@home validator is working a bit different as validators in another projects, so it does not recognize sometimes No consensus situations (for example, I never saw such stuck tasks having status Validation inconclusive or Marked as invalid - all of them are still Initial).
P.S. Some comments would be very welcome here...

Thanks, Metalius. I appreciate your insights. Wonder why they won\\\\\\\'t comment (or just fix it)?

Neasan?

This WU is stuck:

It needs another result to break the tie. (Or something.)

Thanks.

It would also be nice when posting if the text did not fall off into an invisible area !

Yup. And avatars don\'t work. And I still have pending credits from half a year ago.

That makes three things to fix in addition to fixing the failing work units.

Hi, Folks

I only have LHC set to a resource share of 12.5% of total capacity but, because there has been so little work available, my LTDs fouled up my Boinc Manager to such an extent that it wouldn\\\\\\\'t ask for any work for anything but LHC and that had nothing to give. This was such a waste of resources that I contacted Boinc and the stuff below is the correspondence which has cured my lockup. Please note that you need to close down Boinc Manager before starting BoincDV. Apologies for the sequence being in reverse order.

Message
Mike Gibson

All you had to do was detach from LHC, which would have deleted your local LHC LTD history, and then reattach.

any way to clean these up?

And while we're into keeping things clean and tidy, I wonder if there's a way to eliminate the clutter caused by people who insist on creating new threads rather than adding their complaint to one of the large number of already existing threads on this very topic?

Maybe because the other threads have been ignored?
