Is it randomized? Is it because of a "good" profile? Is it because of Credits? How can someone become user of the day (and what's so special about it)? I did not find an answer for that questions on the lhc@home site (maybe I'm blind *g*)... |

I believe this is a general BOINC function so the code is not specific to LHC. If we assume this is true, then it is obvious that it does NOT have to do with credits. The seti@home user of the day has had 0 credits several times (a seti-classic account imported into BOINC). I'm also pretty sure that you have to have both a profile and a picture attached to your account. Other than that, I believe it is random. One would hope a "good" rating would contribute but who knows... If you REALLY want to know you can always download the source code from Berkeley and find out for yourself :) -------------------------------------- A member of The Knights Who Say Ni! User of the Day selection is random. We thought of some credit-based selection but then it would be another kind of top-N list. Markku Degerholm LHC@home Admin |

Mark, I have seen your computers run Linux & LHC@home ... how do you do so? By compiling on your own ? Regards, Yannick. |

@yak: I have downloaded the 4.09 linux-client (binary) that can be downloaded from the lhc-page. The second PC uses a nightly 4.13-snapshot from the boinc.berkeley-page. I compiled it. |
