When I first started with LHC, my WUs were crunching in a few minutes over an hour. Now I'm see WUs crunching in a few minutes and I even have had at least 1 that crunched in, get this, 00:00:00 minutes. I'm also getting WUs that crunch in 10 to 15 hours. Anyone know what's up with these long winded WU crunches and the few minute crunches? L8R.... --- Rick A. - BOINCing right along now.... It can only get better.... Basically LHC@home gives out two types of workunits: Most are relatively short units with "lhc1000" in their name, and some are quite long units called "tunescan" with more turns to calculate. If the client comes to the conclusion that particles it calculates with would crash into the walls of the LHC accellerator, the workunit is immediately finished. If this happens right after a few turns, the WU is finished in 0 seconds (almost). |

A tunescan wu at 1,000,000 turns takes my machine 7-8 hrs where the others average 36 minutes. |

now that guido seems to have deleted his answer, i am not a hundred percent sure what he answered. but in a nutshell, the additional infos was about cpu times and claimed credits for the 2 types of wus. I'm not his attorney or something similar, but i dislike this aggressive style from both sides. the thing with the joke seems to be a running gag, that i do not understand either, but the essence of the answer was valuable information. |

This jerk has got a lot of people pissed off at him. It has been suggested that we (on all project sites) completely ignore his posts and threads. Don't answer posts, don't go into threads he starts. Maybe he, and his father I found out, will get bored from the lack of attention and just go away, or (if it is at all possible) refrain from the crap they pull just to get that attention.
