Hello,

I have some problems.
At the morning I had some Problems with my computer. I must install my BOINC-Client again. Before these problems I had 2 WUs finished in the Client and their status was "ready to repot" and one WU that I had run. After that new install I must join the Project LHC@Home again. Then my three WUs aren`t there in the Client anymore. And my computer begun to download new WUs and run the new WUs. My three problems are:

1. What are with these three WUs, must I do somethink???
2. In the stats I have now 2 Computers with the ID 3653 and 14240. Can someone change that the ID 14240 no longer exist?
3. After I changed the ID in the Client again to ID 3653, two WUs with the status "ready to report" are no longer exists on the Client. And the WU that runs before the ID Change stopps and is send but I think not completed. What are with these three WUs, must I do somethink???

Thanks a lot!!!

The three old workunits are gone.

Normally I would say the only thing you need to do is merge your 2 hosts on the web site. However since you manually changed the host ID it would probably cause more problems than just leaving both of them listed.

Hello,

thanks a lot for your answer!!!
Now I had merge the host 3653 to the host 14240. That is my next mistake, because I want to merge the host 14240 to the host 3653. What must I do to merge the host 14240 to the host 3653 (The host 3653 no longer exists on the list "My computers")?

And what is with the three WUs after my manually host ID changing?

Thanks a lot!!!

Once the client_state.xml is corrupt/deleted the workunits are gone. It is possible to edit that file and reinsert them if the actual data files still exist. However in my opinion the risk of doing more damage outweights the possible gain.

Computers can only be merged into the later one. I was afraid that after manually editing the host id it would screw up the merge so that you would be left without a valid host id.

Hello,

thanks again for your answer!!!
I actually run the client and it works very good. That is now OK for me that I have a new Host ID. But must I do anything with the client_state.xml ? Actually the client works fine! And when I must do anything with the client_state.xml , please can you describe it very easy, because I dont know what I must do.

Thanks a lot!!!

It seems to always merge the lower ID into the higher one, keeping the newer one. I had to do this a few times and it did not affect the work units, those still have been accepted by the server. So you should not need to change anything in your client_state.
