Did LHC@Home actually hit 5000 users before the limit increase? The stats pages do not reflect this: From http://www.boincstats.com/: LHC@Home stats: XML date: 2004-10-22 16:05:07 GMT Totals: Last Day: Users 4,199 7 Hosts 9,229 44 Teams 412 1 Countries 86 0 Total Credit 6,919,034 203,266 From url=http://www.boinc.dk/index.php?page=stats_project_astropulse&project=lhcah: Name LHC@home Cobblestones 6920522.845537 (63 years, 73 days, 9 hours, 49 min. and 40 sec. > I believe they did but about 800 dropped the project after that. > > Actually, the stats only reflect the number of ACTIVE users. At its high there were 4,217 active (completed at least one work unit) users before they opened the limit to 6,000 today. |

I don't care how many users are really active. I just wanted to say thank you to LHC@Home Team! |

How will LHC manage to get 50000 user? ========== I don't think they will ever hit 50,000 Users, but I may be wrong. I really don't think theres enough interest in the Project other than as a backup Project to Seti or CPDN ... That and the fact if they ever did hit 50,000 Users they are going to need a lot more & or better Hardware than they have now. They can't handle 5,000 Users right now with out running into Performance Issues or Data Overloads quite frequently ... They were down or very very very slow most of the night because of just the 1000 increase in Users I suspect with all of them wanting to get work units and accessing the site ... |

I have SETI has my backup project ========= Yes, but the most of the 50,000 users over at Seti Have LHC as a Backup. I havn't even bothered to run Seti in quite awhile even though I have close to 50,000 credits over there. Any more I'm just running LHC and using CPDN as a backup with over to 35,000 credits there already ... :) |

The LHC@Home stats reflect registered users, some of whom may have not actually done any processing. Giskard - the first telepathic robot. |

At first seti exported EVERYONE in their XML files but because they imported 3.3 million users from seti classic, the file was 1 GB and was a pain to download and work with. So they took out all the users with 0 credit and this has carried over to the other projects as well by the looks of it. I wonder if BOINC provides any way of deleting accounts with 0 credit if they are older than say... 6 months? Would make sense to keep the database as compact as possible. -------------------------------------- A member of The Knights Who Say Ni! My BOINC stats site |

I expect that there will be some mechanism to do something like this eventually. |
