I think LHC has finally developed a severe case of Setiates ... The Projects down frequently, can't upload WU's, you get a 20%-30% Failure rate on Downloads ... Pending Credits & Results turned back off again due to Performance Issues ... What else you going to call it other than Setiates ... hehe

Really, well since I frequent the Seti Forum quite often then how come there are so many complaints of Failed uploads & being Granted 0 Credits for Turned in Results & other numerous complaints ... Oh I forgot, thats running Normal for the Seti Crowd now isn't it, so I guess your right everything is working fine over there ... ;)

Dear Poorboy

Indeed we all are poor boys (girls)

On SETI we Do have work, but can't upload them

On Pirates we can upload, but we don't get any work

On LHC, we have (sometimes) a workunit ore 2, escaping from server, but we can't download them successfully

On CPDN, fine working, but Ught the finishing time (no more talking WUs a day)

On Predictor account creating disabled

We need them so, but we can't, even when we will.

My remembering of "what is a Work Unit", is fading away

What is the Setiates Level for LHC? (88%?)

How about Seti-itis - what with the database and connections' gridlock blues?
----------------------
maybe
if you use mysql tables they don't support row level locking so every write to the db locks it.. if you use innodb tables that support row level locking the performance really sucks so reads and writes take a long time

No problems what so ever with either seti or LHC. :)
Perhaps you all have problems with your comps and not that much LHC?

Yup, your right AiMX-24, I might as well trash all my Computers and get new ones...If I had new computers then the Server could get rid of all the Performance Issues it has and everybody else could download work units with no failures ...

It's really all my fault, I'll detach from the Project Immediately so my computers don't mess up the Server & Database any more ...

It's AxMi-24!

I didn't say that you are reason for the problem. Just that maybe you heave badly setup computers. Yea there are some problems with upload but nothing that makes any real trouble. Downloading works and if you run several projects there is always some work to do. Upload is made eventualy and you get credits. It's not perfect but it works good enough.

hahahaha....I never could get the Alphabet right ... ;)

Theres nothing wrong with my Computers, I'll pit them against anybodys...

The Dev's of the LHC have admitted themselves theres a problem with the Downloads and they don't really know what to do about it ...

The Server goes down 4 or 5 hrs a day for Maintenance ...

The Server Posts that they are having Performance Problems and shut off the Pending & Result Features ...

All of the above have nothing to do with my Computers ... My Computers run just fine Thank You ...

I'm not Flaming the LHC Site, I'm just pointing out that there is Problems here. But the Dev's know it and are trying to rectify them ...

Yes there is a problem but I don't think it merrits this kind of complains. Reading you people one gets impression that nothing is working.

Your credits show that it acutaly works sufficiantly well for it's purpose.
And the fact that there are no WU's available prooves it. They aren't building LHC fast enough :D

There is always time to give the team a bit support AND winter is comming soon, the nights are long and cold here, its time to pile the fire up...
(18 Clients, some very old, vapor powered)

But the Queues are full..

Right now, "ovefilled" with long running tunescand

Hmm, seeing SEVERAL clients, downloading til limit reached, all downloads gaga (some days ago), estimating HUNDERDs of "destroyed" scientific work, CAN let jump to the camp of sadness.

Seeing clients with long running WUs, completed with cpu perspiration over hours, upload going to c:\\windows\\paperbasket makes you :---( and you have the BB (Boinc Blues)

On the other side, what will happen, when really tausends of new people are welcomed?

For the last past day, no more gaga DL.

During LHC downtimes here's another particle accelerator design project you can try out at http://stephenbrooks.org/muon1/ There's no downtime, no work units to download, requires basically no babysitting, but still leaves room for plenty of manual parameter manipulation for those who like to tweek.

Just 5 PC's here, 3 Newer ones and 2 older ones, but the parts are on the way to upgrade & speed up the older ones ... :)

Yes, I seemed to have got a lot of the TuneScan WU's also. In fact I got 115 of them either Thursday or Friday last week & some more since, nothing I can't handle though. But I did turn down my Work Preferences a little until I can get some of them run out before I download any more work.

Also the last time I downloaded any work units they all got through, but it was early in the morning here so that may have had something to do with it, or possibly they got the download problem fixed, we'll see the next time I download any more WU's.

@ AxMi-24

I don't really see anybody complaining that much in this thread, if you want to see some real complaining then just hang out at the Seti Site for a few days, now thats complaining over there to me... ;)

Many "Contributor to science" (crunsher!) is comming from seti classic.

Then Boinc went public, we (I)as brave are we are, we migrated and enjoyed the adventure of BOINC and its projects.

LHC is the baby.

To talk about Setiates, is more a sign of concern, it could turn the same path..

Right, take a read at the seti main forum and ...

Only "reason" to complain is the amount of available work for the community
(now). But this is not a scientic reason ;-).

Taking a look on the other side, the people at LHC are standing (sitting?) there and thinking, where in the hell is all THIS work going? They are there and galling/grates/chafes/rubbes they eyes..

@PB
had the luck to get them cheap and with a pentium III or AMD p1200 there is no much fun.
It looks like, the faster one are keeping busy with the longer running tunescanxx and the daily limit is enough.

I asked for 4.1 Days, I GOT for 4.1 Days.

>In fact I got 115
are you counting the zip files ore how do you (let) count, to get numbers?
even with 5 heavy workers, you have seen a huge amount of work units passing while the day is long.
