Seti and Climate are using 4.13 now. Is it safe to upgrade to this version if I am participating in LHC or should I stick with 4.09? Any info would be greatly appreciated. |

If your computers are participating only in LHC then there's no need at present to upgrade unless you have a problem. You can upgrade anyway if you wish. If you have computers that are participating in the other projects, whether or not they are running LHC then you should upgrade. SETI 'almost' requires the upgrade. This is less an issue of forward compatibility between projects than of stability of the client version on your platform. BOINC V4.05 just did not work under W98 or WinMe, for example. I have seen no reports of problems with V4.13, except that some SETI units seem to take longer to run. Giskard - the first telepathic robot. |

I "upgraded" because I was attempting to put Seti on the computer to solve the cross project ID problem. When I attempted to reboot got BSOD every time...had to reformat...losing about 15 LCH wu's.... and an half finished CP model ... bummer. {I really, really hate the Bionic platform...but I digress} So I would not change until you are out of work or are feeling lucky....in other words if it ain't broke don't fix it. |
