Sounds like XP. :)
I skipped 4.12 and went straight to 4.13, which is working OK so far.

Three out of four upgrades from 4.12 to 4.13 went without a hitch, stopping the Win service, installing 4.13, restarting the service. The fourth firstly wouldn't talk to BOINCView, then refused to start the service. Eventually I backed up the BOINC directory, uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC, rebooted the machine, restored the directory, reinstalled the service and Presto! everything is back to normal.

This has to have been the messiest upgrade I've done, but after upgrading from V3.20 to V3.22 to V4.05 to V4.09 to V4.12 to V4.13 it's the only time I've had a problem.

I'm just glad I could restart the CPDN unit it was running - two weeks in and three to go. One day I'll finish a second CPDN WU!

it happens on win98 if "Leave applications in memory while preempted?" option in general preferences is set to "yes". if it is set to "no" you may lose computation time in CPDN because it saves data less often. i set it to 'no' and still waiting it to be fixed.

From the SETI web site - why two releases in as many days:

Version 4.13 of the core client is now available. Version 4.12, which contained various bug fixes, including one pertaining to file upload problems, was released two days ago. Version 4.13 contains an additional bug fix involving a rare case where user permissions weren't being understood correctly by the client.

Well in my case de CC v4.13 is running fine here in WXP, P4, the problem is now that we do not have any units from LHC I can not figure out any improvements or whatsoever.

One thing for sure; in previous versions when update was donde and the reply was succeeded, the total points obtained were automatically updated. Right now I do have the credits figure shown on my page as 961 and my project at home shows only 955.65 in spite of the succes.
LHC@home - 2004-10-15 06:40:56 - Scheduler RPC to http://lhcathome-sched1.cern.ch/scheduler/cgi succeeded
no work available but no change in the score project tag.
