here's what my firewall says.

http://members.shaw.ca/joevoxxer/TextPlainError.jpg 230k screenshot.

summary:
server gives an error saying it can't connect to the database, try again in 3600 seconds.
it seems that boinc client doesn't like the 'type text plain' part of the html response from the server.

This error is fairly ubiquitous. It pops up whenever the server is under heavy load.

It's not a client problem (except in so far as the client is misreading the response from the server).

It seems that the BOINC server-side software needs a fair bit of work to resolve this sort of niggle. Or BOINC project teams need to accept that serious hardware is needed for this sort of project. Or both!
