at work i run 18 PC at the moment, there are much more. but the situation now make unhappy. i don't want that every pc knock every hour at your door for work :-) How can i cache work for 20pc for 24h ? Or later for 100pc if the wu-cache/proxy is there. At the moment i set to "connect all 2 day" .. One pc get for 50hour, a second for 1-2 hour and 18 runs without any jobs for days. Is there a way to easy shedule the workunits? On one PC [this with the 50hours] i edit the status.xml and transfer a wu to a other pc.... Ah! the joke.. all pc use the server as working directory.. all wu still are on the same hdd/partition on the server. server/share/%computername%/ SwissTeam.NET, the better .NET |

Sorry but I think you have no way to install a personal proxy. For the explanation from BOINC site read this: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/proxy_server.php --- |

> Sorry but I think you have no way to install a personal proxy. Oki, if there is no way for a proxy, the question is: "if there a way to reshedule". I can set my preference to "connect all 5 Day", and if one pc can catch some work, i can reshedule. In the Setting.xml is everey work unit, and i need a way to copy the work from one pc to the others... Or we all need more workunits :-) Anyway, if i set this setting so high, it will catch the workunit and for a "longer time" other won't have someting to do. |

Well... for the same reason (each WU are send to a spcific computer) I think it's not possible *but* it's AFAIK andit's not very far... ;-) Anyway, it seems to me (I'm not an developer) that it could be done, a soft that "know" the id-caracteristic of each computer under himself anddown-upload WU sendind to the serverrequest in name of others computers. Exactly a proxy in fact but with caracteristic adapted to the fact that WU are sent to one computer. So this "proxy" will keep separatly different WU knowing who needs which. I think this sort of Proxy doesn't exist but it should be possible if there isn't any risk for such system. Others ? Spcialist ? ... --- |

I believe that boinc will detect the change in computers and you will not receive credit for the crunchiing |

> I believe that boinc will detect the change in computers and you will not > receive credit for the crunchiing How ? I think Boinc recognize the computer with some caracteristics that the computer send himself. So why this "proxy" couldn't record this caracteristics from his clients and then send exactly the same data to boinc ? I can't see the difficulty here... :-) But I guess there's one... :-/ --- |

And now with the very big units i have the same problem again... of my 50 identicle PC (ok 30x P800 / 20x P4-3Ghz) only 10 of the slower P800 have tunescans. Now this 10 have some about 100 tunescans ( 20h) ... If every of my PC get one Unit if it's ready to run one, the whole pack is much faster finished, AND no pc run WITHOUT work... at the moment, 40 run only as heating maschine without work!!! Stupid!!! [No, i can't run climate, not enough diskspace/ to much Network-traffic(serverbased!)] |

Hello' I do not know if this is precisely the point, but,* what I use to do, is downloading manies WU at home, zip them all, and move them on a usb key to work... unzipping , crunching and way back... Of course this is time consuming (and seems NOT OK for *numerous* machines ...) Hope' this helps Yannick |
