Many threads and posts here and elsewhere on the subject; but, all suggested solutions I've encountered do not resolve the problem, i.e., BOINC data directory permissions, group membership of BOINC user, BOINC not installed as a service, etc. Anyone have any further suggestions on how to overcome this problem with Theory? Thanks.

Windows 11: build 10.0.26200
WSL2: version 2.6.3
Docker Desktop (Personal): version 29.2.1
BOINC: 8.2.8
Theory Simulation: 302.10 (docker)

From the Wiki:

https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/wiki/Installing-Docker-on-Windows
NOTICE: the latest versions (2.6.0 and 2.6.1) doesn't seem to work with BOINC. We recommend 2.5.9:

Also the docker/podman is installed inside the WSL instance of Linux, so when you DockerPersonal how did you install this?

Thanks for the post about docker versions above 2.5.9. Replacing WSL will be too disruptive, so it's bye-bye to Theory Simulation until this gets resolved.

FWIW, I installed Docker Desktop from the Microsoft Store.

OK, thanks again. I'll try again without the Docker Desktop.

Cheers.

I uninstalled Docker Desktop from Windows; but, docker did not seem to be installed in my WSL2 instance. Searches to find installation instructions did not result in a clear path forward. What resource would you recommend to follow?

Cheers,

Which linux did you install in WSL?

You can get the Buda one from the Wiki, with this podman is preinstalled.
