I see it is not just Dockers since I have 15 of those and all the Atlas doing the same thing |

I have the latest Windows 11, the latest BUDA/WSL, and the latest Virtualbox. My intention is to run any WSL stuff you have, but do virtualbox if that's all you have. Is this setup correct? At the moment I'm getting nothing, even though I see (presumably VB) tasks in your CMS queue. Gemini (which has been known to be wrong!) suggests I should untick the box to mean "WSL preferred", and by ticking it I mean "WSL only". |

You can not run virtualbox and WSL at the same time on windows, in windows WSL requires hyper-v but Virtualbox does not work with this enabled. The recomendation from BOINC team is on windows stick with Vbox, I imagine that LHC will migrate everything to docker/podman then we can switch our windows machines over. |

In reply to Toby Broom's message of 21 Mar 2026: You can not run virtualbox and WSL at the same time on windows, in windows WSL requires hyper-v but Virtualbox does not work with this enabled. But you have both running in your screenshot. And Gemini told me the newest VB will run (but slower) with Hyper-V enabled - something to do with a tortoise symbol? |

Yes. Hyper-V takes exclusive control over your CPU hardware virtualization (VMX/AMD-V). VirtualBox and Hyper-V can't share hardware virtualization together. So VirtualBox falls back to a software based emulation mode which makes it run much more slowly. Even if you disable Hyper-V, Windows 11 memory protection uses Hyper-V so it doesn't really stop running. My understanding is that it is a hassle to disable Hyper-V completely. Running Hyper-V together with VB is supposedly a new experimental feature of VirtualBox. But it does come with a performance penalty. |

In reply to maeax's message of 23 Mar 2026: Computer ID 10598297 What?! Are you saying it took 7 days to just start?! That's not inefficient, that's just broken, so not indicative of whether it's better or not. The bugs need sorted first. |

There may be an issue when you request work from all the sub-projects. I had the same problem until I turned them all off except Theory. Whereupon I got a task that said it would run in a matter of an hour or so, but in reality is showing 100% completion (BOINC progress), is actually at about integrate 340 of 760 and just under two days, so the back of my envelope suggests another 2 days at least to completion. This is the last work I'll be having from LHC until such time as they can clearly demonstrate that the initial estimates are about right..... In reply to Toby Broom's message of 23 Mar 2026: The mixed ones are running linux. So is it possible to get some buda ones for my windows 11 PCs? Server says no tasks. |

I'd try that, but Theory is empty. |
