... when will my PC be assigned work? I have probably done something wrong, but I can't find what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tanx! |

Go to the settings and make your PC visible. So others can see where it is stuck. |

We are always able to see our own computers, but if hidden others cannot. Yours are still hidden. To un-hide you need to go to you account page on the LHC website https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/prefs.php?subset=project and make sure that the Should LHC@home show your computers on its web site?option is ticked. With your computers unhidden while others can see their configuration they cannot change anything about your computers. |

Thank you rob. I updated my preferences and did the Update command on the BOINC Manager. |

As a minimum you will need to install Oracle VirtualBox (a quick Google search will find it). This is specifically needed to run Theory and CMS work, and for Windows machines it's also required to run Atlas work. There isn't any Xtrack work at the moment. When you install it, make sure virtualisation is enabled in your system BIOS. |

Thank you Dark Angel. I have the Oracle VirtualBox Manager installed. But I don't know how to get started with it. Is there a Guide somewhere that will tell how to set up the VirtualBox to work with the 2 projects that I have assigned to this PC? I'm trying to run LHC@home and Rosetta@home. Thanks for any help. Virtualization is Enabled in my BIOS. |

Rosetta@home doesn't use VirtualBox, so if that project isn't working there are other problems. There are currently workunits available on that project since December 21. Prior to that there had been no work for quite some time. Best to ask for assistance in that project's forums. On LHC@home the Computer Information page for your system https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/show_host_detail.php?hostid=10996754 shows Virtualization Virtualbox (7.2.4) installed, CPU does not have hardware virtualization support This is a common problem. It arises often because Hyper-V and VirtualBox are incompatible. In addition to enabling virtualization in BIOS there is a list of things that must be disabled in Windows 11 to allow Virtualbox to run in the mode that LHC@home requires. I don't remember all the details off the top of my head, but https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=6247 covers much of it. https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=6419&postid=52760 has links to some useful information at virtualbox.org. Yeti's checklist https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4161&postid=29359 is several years old but can still be useful.

Thanks for trying to help me with this, but I think I will let CERN keep this difficult project to itself. I'll find another project for this PC. |
