Although the front page of the site says server up, x,000 work units to crunch, my BOINC client has been unable to get a work unit for a number of days now. Is this due to the poor database performance? I've run out of LHC work units, so my PC's working away on SETI instead.

Two answers here:

1) Server performance is hampering all sorts of things. Some people can't get work as a result.

2) The entry on the front page giving the number of WUs available is not generated in real time. It's only updated every few minutes. It is possible that between the message being updated and you attempting to download work the the work has already been taken. This is most likely when the message is 'low on work' as there will be less than 1000 units available.

I believe there may be a third posibility. Instances of each WU are sent to computers running the same operating systems. It could be possible that although there are WU's to crunch they may be marked for an OS other than the one you are running.
