Hi, I have just signed up with LHC, used to have seti running but now here, can someone please help me with this, Can u have the graphics going in a window or only in screen saver mode? also the cpu usage, im stuck on 100% usage which i dont want so I have changed the settings so that its on 75%, now i have been online for 4 hours i guess now and im not sure weather its running correctly or not,the CPU is still running on 100%. Yet the webpage said that i need to update it thru the client, well on the actual program window theres no update or anything. its working in screen saver, but really would like to have a little window with it running in to so i can see it :) can anyone help, does this not work like seti used to????? :(

To see the graphics, open up the BOINC client, and go to the "Work" tab. Right click the active(will have CPU time that it changing) work unit and tell it to show graphics.

I believe it the setting you changed to 75 is the resource share option. This doesn't change the amount of CPU that you use, but rather the amount of resource time you dedicate to each project you are signed up for.

I don't believe you can change the CPU usage, but you shouldnt have a need to. The priority setting for BOINC is set low so that it will give up resoruces to other programs as they need them.

Also to update settings on the client, go to the "Projects" tab and right click the project(LHC@Home) and select update, and it'll tell the project to contact the website and update your account settings.

You can pop up a window as others have stated. If you are doing a SETI@Home work unit you see the basic data plotted and information about what is goind on while that is being done. In my Owner's Manual you can find complete chapters of what it is doing and why. Also how to configure it (even how to make it emulate the SETI@Home Classic display.

Your processor will always run at 100%, there is no setting that lets you reduce this. There is normally no impact on the computer's operation if you run it this way. If you do want to throttle it down while you are working on the computer you can change the setting to don't do work when the computer is in use, then set the delay timer so that it won't start up to 3 minutes of more of idle time.

At this time, SETI@Home, cp.net and LHC@Home all have screen savers and all of them can be run in a separate window as stated. But as it switches between projects and work units, at this time, BOINC does not automatically change for you ,...
