I have quite a lot of computers listed that no longer contribute to the project. They can't be deleted as they have credit so the next best thing is to merge as many as I can. The thing is that they are multi CPU machines which accumulated quite a lot of credit whilst they were active. When/IF I merge them they will likely appear high up on the top computers list. I don't really want to hijack the list, so is there any other options ? |

That would be strange at least. |

You cant delete a host that has credit. |

Go ahead and hijack the list - if they aren't active anymore they will be overtaken within a few weeks by active ones. |

It would be nice for all BOINC projects (and hey yes I know this is priority~ 7bazillion+3 ) to "archive" known dead hosts, by the user, thus keeping the total (stored on the "user" table?) and the host records if required. |

I was thinking the same thing. There should be a default computer object for every account that acts as the grave yard for the non-existing computers. This computer has no OS information, CPU information, etc. It's named the same for every account so reports can be ran easily excluding these computer objects and when you have computers in your list that's no longer crunching, merge them into this grave yard. :) --- |

When/IF I merge them they will likely appear high up on the top computers list. I don't really want to hijack the list, so is there any other options ? ========= I don't think that will happen, when ever I merge Computers they never show more total credit or rac credit than what the last active one had. In fact in some instances the rac credit dropped to 0 while the total credit remained in tack for the last active host... You can always just try it on 1 & see what happens... |

Well it looks like your Computers are in 3 & 4 spots and it wasn't PCZ that went ahead of you anyway ... I take the Top Computer Spots with a grain of salt anyway because if some of peoples Computers were not hidden it would shuffle the Rankings all around anyway. As an example 2 of my Computers over at the Seti site where in the top 15 for a long time but they never showed up there because I never bothered to Un-Hide them ... |

I didn't think you could merge anyway unless you had 2 listed that were exactly the same computer. Has that changed? |

You can merge computers which are similar. If they have the Same CPU OS etc. The reason for merging the inactive computers is to cut down on the number of ghost computers. I don't want to view my computers and have a lot of inactive machines in the list. Flagging these machines as inactive would be a better option but we cant do that. |
