I am sorry but no only the Linux and Windows client will be available.

But what about linux@sparc.
I've ... problem:

2005-08-31 10:31:44 [LHC@home] New host venue: home
2005-08-31 10:31:45 [LHC@home] Deferring communication with project for 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 58 seconds

Is or will be linux@sparc supported ?

Thanks,
krutny

What a pity!

Given the lack of boinc applications (apart from SETI) available for Solaris and other OS BOINC will have a few problems to be generally adopted in some institutions.

Take into account that windows and linux clients tend to divide its cpu horsepower between several projects because they can. If LHC would be available in source code or at least through binary ports to other OS, LHC will be rejecting to get a lot of work done by those machines.

Is there any chance that the source code can be made available so that those of us with non-mainstream platforms can compile our own? We would then be able to run the BOINC client in 'anonymous' mode and feed work packets to the locally compiled app.

(I'm building the SETI application on my Linux/Sparc64 machine (Sun Ultra60) right now)

The only platforms supprted are Windows 32-bit and Linux 32-bit. This is primarily due to the platforms supported by the chosen compiler. Selecting a different compiler is not an option because of the numerical sensitivity of SixTrack. This issue has been discussed extensively in the message boards.

At present there is no system administrator, and no work. LHC has more than enough participants to service the small amount of work that is generated from time to time, so there's no incentive to extend the number of supported platforms, nor any resource available to do it.

Thats a fairly conclusive answer, thanks! :-)

Sounds like this topic has been fairly well beaten to death now, sorry for bothering everyone. You guys sound fairly well covered so I'll move on and find a project that needs the extra processing resources.

Regards,

Sean.
