I think I could handle 1 GB files without a problem; maybe even more. But if that is too much from some, why not offer an option? |

I think I could handle 1 GB files without a problem; maybe even more. Same for me...I did not see any difference in performance of the tasks and download for me is unlimited, so a gig, no problem. I was not aware of the "problem". But yes, a gig is way to much for a file from BOINC projects |

seems that now we are back to file sizes as they were before the recent increase. I can see download files with about 250MB (whereas before it was 1.9GB and then 1GB), and vm_image.vdi filesize about 3.5GB (which before was about 5.2GB) With this, I could easily change from concurrently running 3 tasks 4 cores ea. to 4 tasks 3 cores ea. on my 32GB Ramdisk. The question though is whether these current file sizes will stay for a while, or whether they might increase again after a few days. I guess no one will be able to tell ? |

I guess no one will be able to tell ?well, meanwhile I can answer the question myself: A few minutes ago, downloaded file sizes were again 1GB, and vm_image.vdi filesize about 4GB. So, the situation seems to be rather volatile. |

Same for me (1.12 GB) on native ATLAS. That is no problem on the file transfers, but it makes the project folder 46.5 GB. I have plenty free on a 500 GB SSD, but it could be an unexpected problem for some. |

I am running BOINC on a 32GB Ramdisk, so it makes a difference. Not only that with the 1.12GB download file, the subsequent file "ATLAS.root_0" in the slot directory is same size (i.e. 1.12GB), but also the vm_image.vdi is almost 1GB larger. So yesterday, when I noticed too late that 1.12 GB files were downloaded instead of 243 MB files, with the consequences mentioned above my system crashed after a while, due to lack of disk space :-( So, I changed the setting (number of tasks running concurrently, plus number of CPU cores per task) - and since last night, the download files have changed back to 243 MB. I bet they will change to 1.12 GB by tomorrow :-) |
