Job runtime estimation accuracy request

I request that the CMS project makes more accurate runtime estimations. I have my computers configured to queue 0.5 days of work. looking at an average CMS task they are aprox 6 hours, if I take a 48 thread machine, 0.5 days of work should be aprox cache of 192 WU's. Looking at my current cache its 898, so the computation time estimate in the work unit is off by a factor of almost 5. I would lower the load on all the infrastructure if the estimates were more accurate? |
