Hi all,

We just released version 2.80 of the native app. The bootstrap script has been completely rewritten in bash and therefore python2 is no longer required to run ATLAS native.

Another change is that Singularity is not required for hosts running CentOS/RedHat 7. For these hosts python2 is still a requirement, but there is work ongoing to make the code used in ATLAS tasks python3-compatible as soon as possible.

This version has been tested on LHC-dev but on a limited set of hosts, so there may be some problems that didn't show up there. Please report issues here and we'll fix them straight away.

Have a second Computer, but this is running old -native Atlas.

I see the same on some other hosts, so have rolled back to 2.73. Will do some more investigation on LHC-dev...

I am a Windows user but will run Linux within a VM should the Linux software contain all the necessary code to run Atlas right out of the box. If that is more efficient, that is.

2.80 works for me (Ubuntu 18.04.3).

But I have singularity version 3.5.2+184 installed, which may help.

I think the problems with 2.80 were with CentOS7 hosts running without Singularity, which were missing certain installed packages that led to the SIGBUS errors. I'm not exactly sure which packages are required but to be safe I've turned back on the Singularity requirement for all hosts on the just released 2.81.
