Hi.

Everyone wonders how to get the fastest machine or the most credits. I wonder whether anyone knows a way to beat the credit system. How can you raise your RAC beyond any level? I have an idea, but that has yet to be veryfied......

I'm not posting my idea and would like to encourage anyone willing to discuss this with me via mail. Maybe we'll find a way to prevent such things from happening...

Sincerely,

t_wolf

Well, I really hope you'll share that bit of info with LHC staff, so they can prevent cheating.

Or even better: share it with the BOINC devs so that it can be prevented on all projects...

If you are concerned about cheating then don't participate in the project.
People are here to crunch WU's and enjoy some friendly competition.

The bad old days of Seti are behind us and there is no need for self proclaimed policemen.

Hi.

First thing: I don't cheat... and i don't like cheaters.

I was talking about a way to beat the credit system. I've been the administrator in several online communities with credit systems and I know that there always will be someone to try everything possible and impossible to get to position #1.

Anyone from boinc or LHC can contact me at thwo (you know what sign should be here) web dot de and I'm willing to share my idea. It's rather simple but I haven't tried it yet.

so long,

sysfried (t_wolf)

easiest way would be to somehow fudge your benchmark super high, but even then that would only get you a moderate (of the other 2 co-verifying results, you'd get the higher one) increase .(kinda how linux machines get slightly worse RAC because of their low benches)

to sysfried:

I encourage you to submit you idea to the boinc-dev mailing list. Where all
the people working on boinc are discussing boinc issues. If you really have discovered some bug in the credit system, it will be put on the TODO list of boinc.
