Hi team,

I am crunching under gridcoin pool but somehow theory tasks are always failing (....). Atlas seems to be ok.
Unfortunately I cannot choose, I need to request both or none.
Can I locally in my pc modify config file to avoid theory task's request to server?

It's a gridcoin issue. They determine what projects you can choose from, but from those projects not the sub-projects.

The only thing I could think about is to create an app_config.xml to do not run more than 1 Theory task at a time and when you have too many waiting in queue abort the ones you don't want.
LHC-server will handle that without punishing you ;)

What is to say: I can't avoid getting Theory (somehow, they dont work fine in my pc).

If the Theory tasks run for only a few minutes before failing then consider the following strategy... Just keep downloading and crunching Theory. Once you have failed approximately 500 Theory tasks the server will reduce your daily quota of Theory tasks to 1 task per CPU per day. Your daily ATLAS quota will not be affected. Yes, it's a waste of CPU cycles until you hit the limit but maybe that's the lesser of all the evils.

If you go to your host's Details page and then click application details -> Show, you'll get a page showing "Max tasks per day" for all the apps you've run on that host. As long as the "Max tasks per day" decreases then the mechanism is working.

Obviously, if Theory tasks run for several hours before they fail then you might look for a better strategy, for example a script that aborts Theory tasks when they download.
