Has the decision been made on whether the current points accumlation will stay or be cleared when the project opens to the public?

I think that credits should stay cause the work that has been done was a contribution to bring lhc@home out of it's beta-status. and secondly, why should anyone want to see the credits cleared?

Unless people are not doing LHC for the science. Then why would any one care if they got any credits? Or even care if the credits they have received, during a BETA test, are reset to zero.

Currently we are planning to clear the credits, but all beta tester credits will be shown on Beta Testers Hall of Fame page.

Seti has cleared credits when getting out of beta tests :)
I think hall of fame should be great :)

Thank you Markku. I'm assuming that will also clear all pending credits.

Will that be on Oct 1st?

I'm not sure yet. We are a little bit behind the schedule.

Exactly WHEN did SETI come out of Beta? I think I missed it.

When/if the credits are cleared,

We won't have to reattach to the project or sign up again right?

A couple of my PCs running LHC@home are offsite so I don't see them daily.

It's from seti news archive.

June 22, 2004
Welcome to the new SETI@home! The project is now officially active. We've reset the project by deleting all results and workunits, and setting all credits (user, team, host) to zero. Thanks to everyone who participated in the alpha and beta tests for their help in debugging SETI@home and BOINC.

Thanks for this, but I think you missed the irony in my post ;-)

A 'Hall of Fame' is a nice idea, but anyone not in the top 200 or so is going to find it rather cumbersome to scroll through pages and pages of rankings to see their Beta credits (especially given that the project may end up with 5000 or more Beta testers). Perhaps a better idea would be to add the Beta credits (and RAC) to the user account (as is done at SETI@Home with credits from the classic version).

maybe you could combine both: hall of fame + accounts page.

How many promille of all users can be interested in particle physics? How many understand even 1% of what the project is good for? Well, maybe I understand this 1% but I guess not much more.

I'm generally interested in having some fun with DC and actually attached to LHC just to make some credits and for no other reason. Does that matter and are the results less good or less useful?

People join DC projects for a lot of reasons like good communities, fancy graphics, curiosity, boredom ...

edit: I am interested in Climate issues - but for this RPG the credits came in too slow ;-)

Why bother with a hall of fame.
Reality check here people this is just a BETA test.

Wipe the scores and go live.
