Can I break them, can I turn off my computer? I get credit for every task but Atlas tasks used tu behave similarly. I don't want to waste electricity and computer's power. I have doubts becauce theoretically there is the same checklist for Atlas and Theory jobs but for same time I was crunching Theory tasks without proxy configuration and I got credit. |

Can I break them, can I turn off my computer?as far as I have read various times here in the forum, stopping VM tasks and turning off the computer at least for lengthy periods of time can kill them. At any rate, after stopping VM tasks and exiting BOINC, you should give the tasks enough time (a few minutes) for closing down properly. You can watch this short process by looking how RAM is being freed. This more or less guarantees that the task will restart at exactly the same point it was stopped before. |

Every break of a Atlas-task start it from the beginning. You need to wait up to the finishing of the task of Atlas! |

Every break of a Atlas-task start it from the beginning.my experience is different. If I follow the procedure of letting the ATLAS tasks shut down properly, a restart after short time (up to 20-30 minutes, for example rebooting after a Windows Update) lets the task continue where it got stopped before. |

Can I break them, can I turn off my computer?Pulling the power plug ==> The VBox-tasks will end in computation error or in best case will restart from the beginning. Shutting down the machine ==> Most VBox-tasks will restart from the beginning. Best practice: - Uncheck 'Leave non GPU-tasks in memory while suspended' in BOINC's Computing preferences. - Open VirtualBox Manager. You'll see your VBox tasks in a Running State. - Suspend 1 VBox task in BOINC Manager and watch in VirtualBox Manager until that VM have a saved state. - Repeat the line above for all VBox tasks one after another. - When all tasks have a saved state, stop BOINC's Client with Boinc Manager's "Shut down connected client" The process VBoxSVC.exe will stay alive for some minutes, but when all VM's are saved and you have closed VirtualBox Manager, you may ignore the warning when you shutdown your machine. |

Okey, thank you! I can run Theory tasks :) I tried hard Atlas jobs but when I was turning off my computer (even if I was disconnecting the client), tasks broke down. At the beginning they seem good but after upgrading the app broken tasks slow down and down and at the end the server was stopping them. Even short suspending broke down them :/ So I wanted to make me sure that my computer doesn't do useless work. Cheers! |
