The LHCb tasks and/or the infrastructure that support them is broken. Even if your hosts connect on port 80 they will not receive any sub-tasks to crunch. They will spend most of their time doing nothing and then you will see they have (for example) 10 hours elapsed time but only 1 hour CPU time.

CMS is broken too. Only Theory, ATLAS and Sixtrack work properly. They have occasional small problems but they work 90% of the time. Best to disable CMS and LHCb applications and crunch only Theory, ATLAS and Sixtrack until they fix LHCb.

This is exactly what I have mentioned a few times in the thread "New version v1.05" lately. And every additional day I am wondering more why no one from LHC cares.

I've heard that participation in BOINC has steadily decreased in recent years across all projects. The number of volunteers is down along with the number of donated CPU cycles. It fits with what is happening in this new Age of Trump and Lies. People no longer value science. They instead value lies and being stupid. Giving, caring and building together is frowned upon. People want only to be like Trump... give nothing, take all you can steal, hate everybody, destroy everything.

Maybe management has decided that until the current trend reverses itself it just isn't worth investing manpower in LHCb.

Here's the stats about users in LHC@home. It is very depressing to read albeit most of the user lost is propably due to absense of sixtrack tasks and only VirtualBox subprojects available:

I think that people take part in a project when they feel they are part of a community and can exchange impressions, ideas and even puns with the admins and other volunteers, like it happens at SETI@home.
