I have not had a task for sixtrack in the standard LHC (non-virtual) in quite a while but my PC says that it is using 4.6 GB of space. User name Viking69 Team name Norway Resource share 100 Disk usage 4.62 GB WHY? What can I clean out w/o damaging the app? Let's crunch for our future. |

We can't really look at anything since your computer is *hidden* from us. 4.62 GB isn't very much on a HD these days and SixTrack doesn't take up much space either. |

It's save to do a project reset via your local BOINC client. Prior to this you may check the project's web preferences: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/prefs.php?subset=project To avoid getting the large vdi files used by the VBox tasks you may - uncheck the subprojects you don't want to run - set "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" to "No". |

boinc version 7.12.1 is 9.20 MB looking at it on one of mine. If you ever did run any VB tasks those vdi's can be found C:\ProgramData\BOINC - Projects - lhcathome.cern.ch_lhcathome |

Maybe you're even connected to the old URL. To cleanup everything of LHC remove the project using BOINC Manager and add the project again using the URL https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/ |

Thank you. I had tried the Virtual box on my PC but it caused so many problems I had to remove it. I did find 2 .VDI files with their associated .XML that were 98 % of the 4.6 GB. I removed them and it cleaned up the space used. As to the comment that 4.6 GB is not a lot, it does depend on the size of the HDD. I do have my PC's hidden as I had been compromised in the past and that is a tiny bit of additional security. Let's crunch for our future. |

I do have my PC's hidden as I had been compromised in the past and that is a tiny bit of additional security. Utter nonsense based on ignorance of what constitutes a security risk. Exposing your computers in BOINC does not reveal anything a hacker can use to compromise a host. Additional security it is not. Paranoia it is. |
