MAGIC, thank you for the explanations.
Yes, I am aware of the Win10 reboot problem. However, the PC we talk about is Win7, where this does not happen.
For some strange reason, as seen from the stderr, the VM is being paused for 10 seconds, in most cases after about 8 1/2 hours runtime, and exactly during these 10 seconds a heartbeat check is being made and is bound to fail.

On another maching (notebook) with Vista 32-bit, for unknown reason, the connection to the WLAN modem gets interrupted sometimes, inmidst of a Theory task being processed, but this does not do any harm. The task finishes regularly and gets into backoff state, until I reactivate the connection to the modem manually. Then the upload starts.

So, altogether this all seems very strange. There don't seem to be any logical explanations behind, at lease not for me.

Erich,
You wrote about a WLAN connection. Is there a disconnection from your Router or ISP seen?

My explanation for the 'heartbeat missing' is differences in process priorities for the processes VBoxSVC.exe and the vboxwrapper*.exe.
Standard the VBoxSVC.exe is set to 'normal' and the vboxwrapper to 'Lowest/Idle'.
So when the system is busy the wrapper can't react on time.

I'm using the Priority-program from Fred Melgert for setting both processes to 'Below Normal' and never have the 'heartbeat issue'.

Well I have a couple Windows 7 pc's running Theory tasks here and they don't have any problems and I see yours does get some Valids and a few not Valids

Mine are running with different 5.2.xx versions (with Extension Pack)

As far as that internet connection it will run a little while when you lose connection but they can't run an entire task that way with VB

You got that dreaded "_ACCESSDENIED" a few times https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=191133224

I still think only having 2.75 GB memory could be your problem (is this DDR2?)

I guess the first thing I would try is plugging in more ram and maybe a newer version of VB

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

(and as you know your Vista also only has 2.75 GB memory too)
And it takes half of that just to run the X86 OS which is probably why you can get Valids and Invalids like this https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/results.php?hostid=10542973

Good luck
