Dear all,

Is there a link to the settings of Oracle Virtual VM Box?
I have installed Bionic with VM but have no clue how to setup VM Box.
Searched the forums but can`t find anything.

I do now get this message at an Atlas project : VM environment needed to be cleaned up.

Any help wil be appriciated,

Masky

Hi Masky,
You shouldn't need to change any of the VBox settings yourself as the wrapper does all that for you.
My machines only run Theory and Sixtrack as they don't have enough memory to comfortably run the others but you appear to have plenty so that can't be your issue. You have many completed and credited Atlas and LHCb, although lots of LHCb errors. There are threads on specific Atlas and LHCb errors.
The "environment" problem can sometimes be solved by EXITing Boinc, wait for the VMs to save or power-off, EXIT VBox, then relaunch, which allows housekeeping and hopefully lets the tasks proceed.

Hi Ray,

Is VM something in the background or running With Bionic ?
I dont see VM running in my tasks , or do i need to set startup procedures ?
The LHCb errors where when i closed Bionic inproperly , could only be restored by reinstalling Bionic with VM package.

Btw i just rebooted my computer and the error is gone now :)

Boinc will start, and do all the VBox control, in the background although it can sometimes be useful to open it up and peak inside or to check for updates. The "extension pack" isn't necessary but, again, can be useful. If all is running as it should then there is really no need to disturb it.
When shutting down, best practice is to exit Boinc first and allow a short pause to allow active VMs to save before shutting dwn.
Happy crunching.
