All buffers except Atlas for tasks to be sent are empty. Is anybody looking into this or is it planned? |

The queues have been refilled, but a fresh Theory VM didn't get any subtask: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=186710434 |

... but a fresh Theory VM didn't get any subtask:same here, with 3 Theory tasks. |

Hi team, In addiiton of empty queues: Could someone clarify which is current "status", what are we looking for and "why" there is nothing to crunch? Much appreciatted, we need some science here or maybe people will move somwhere else :) KR, Javi |

Hi team, There was lots of work during the last weeks. The current status can be seen here: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/server_status.php Your account page doesn't show any host that had contact to the project server within the last 30 days. You may check if your BOINC client is connected via the correct URL: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/ |

hHi, Im on gridcoin. And no, there is no work for sixtrack, see the site you sent ;) And I am ont the only one who did a heads up about this. I would like to get much more info about science happening, workunit naming convention (the only ones I am crunching, are called "2015 errors...". No idea what I am doing and what we are doing now generally speaking. KR, Javi[img][/img] |

Most of the time this project has been suffering from lack of tasks to crunch. This was especially true when the virtualbox tasks (Atlas, Theory, CMS, LHCb) were on separate projects. Now they are part of LHC@home and usually at least one of them has some tasks (but not always). To setup the virtualbox environment you can start with Yeti's checklist here: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4161&postid=29359#29359. Note that to get it running smoothly and reliably may take some effort and still it is prone to problems with communicating servers in Cern (virtualbox tasks require constant communication to several servers in Cern when running). For what this project is about, you could start from the front page: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/ and here from Science message boards https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_forum.php?id=2 |

Hi, Thx for your reply. I know how to surf the site and I know the "theory" of what we are doing. But no, there is no clear and updated place where I can see why we run out of workunits or whats the meaning of the names of the tasks we get. Or when somehting is found or when the ssearch could pottentially "end". Can you say what do units like "2015_errors" stand for? KR, Javi |

Sorry, I don't know either what that "2015_errors" means. What I know that all these different tasks we do run are simulations on how the LHC should or is expected to run (please somebody correct me if I am wrong). The sixtrack simulates different control magnet parameters which control the beam in LHC. The idea is to weed out parameter sets that would result the beam to collide the wall. I believe that the actual data (or results from LHC experiments) are studied by the computing grid located in different facilities around the world and it is not available to computers using Boinc for security and data integrity reasons. |

What is to say: We dont really know what are the batches about, just the "theory". It would be nice to know...if they want participants ot be kept. Now I cna see meny of them here due to good gridcoinc reward but if that changes... |

Hello Guiri-One, Sorry for the late reply - Here at CERN we are commissioning the LHC and all other accelerators for data taking in 2018. You can have a taste of the "theory" behind recent SixTrack tasks here: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4590&postid=34050 You can find some further info here: http://lhcathome.web.cern.ch/projects/sixtrack The reason for no new jobs on SixTrack is that our guys are still analysing the results and thinking about the next steps. As already mentioned earlier, SixTrack tasks have the tendency to come out in big chunks, as they are scans over large parameter spaces; hence, once you have decided on the step to do, then the parameter space is scanned. Hope it helps! Cheers, A. |

And this is the reply I was looking for :) Thx to Alessio M for clarifing :) It would be also nice to know the crunching status (batches missing and so on). Otherwise, there is no way to "know" when each "experiment" will be finished and sent back to scientist for further analysis. Being aware of the "progress" is something volunteers appreciatte, otherwise is hard to know where are we and were are we going to as it sounds like an endless experiment. Have a nice day, Javi |

Hi team, It's been already days since I last crunched something (no VM for me). Is there anything expected to come? How could we have 30K tasks "pending" but I can't get anyone? maybe we should reduce the deadlines so as eveyrhting moves faster for those crunching? Thx for the feedback. KR, Javi |

The last date one of your computers contacted the project server was 2018-02-07. You may reattach your computers to the project to ensure they contact the correct main URL: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/ |

Hi, Thats not an answer. Why don't you provide an answer instead of writting an "excuse"? If you don't know, is ok, me neither. Im in gridcoin pool. Thats why you won't see my computer from this account. Happier now? |

If you want help, provide reliable data. This is not possible as long as you hide behind a gridcoin account. So don't expect further help. |

I am not asking for help. I am just commenting out & suggesting about some topic, please read my "first" comment. We still dont receive tasks and I can still see >40K tasks "pending". Is ont only me. Almost none. I am suggesting a quicker deadline so as it does not take weeks for a unit to be done while hundreds of computers are iddle. like mine. Indeed I moved to another project, Already almost a week with 0 tasks. Please comment on that, dont waste your time searching for my account or host, thats adding nothing to this open topic. Hello, on this message https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=4513&postid=36731#36731 there is being talked about a server issue regarding Atlas. This seems to affect all other subprojects, too! Work buffers seem to be empty for Theory and LHCb as well. Admins, please look into that! Thanks and regards, djoser.
