I just updated my Ryzen 1700 from Linux 4.13.0.36 to Linux 4.13.0.37 and started receiving errors on all LHC projects I have (CMS, LHCb and Theory). I have uninstalled VBox and reinstalled a couple of times, and it seems to be installed properly. So my guess is that there is a problem with Linux 4.13.0.37 (on Lubuntu 17.10.1). Has anyone else seen this? It might be something else, as I updated several things at the same time.

I started with VitualBox 5.1.32, which was running OK before the update, and then replaced it with 5.1.34 after receiving the errors and finally 5.2.8 with no improvement.

Simple mistake. As I was changing some memory around, my Ryzen 1700 motherboard (Asrock Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X) somehow reset some of the defaults. In this case, that was "SVM" disabled. By enabling it, all is well. You can't trust motherboards to do the right thing automatically.
