Hi, when can we expect some more WU's to be released?

Thanks

ALL,

I am also getting no WUs. This is one of the strangest projects I have ever tried to help as it just seems incapable of continually sending WUs.

Is there a page we can go to in order to find if work units are being sent out or if we need to troubleshoot our workstation or client is jacked up?

My BOINC client is able to run other projects just fine, so I doubt that is the problem.

Thanks,

Stuart

Toby,

One thing I did was to go into my user profile and make sure more than just the sixtrack application was ticked off. It hasn't made a difference yet, but we will see.

The project made that the default as the other sub projects have more intense requirements for memory, disk and network.

Sixtrack has always been intermittent, between all the projects there is almost always work.

I am getting work for Theory, CM/S and LHCb.

The server Status shows the availability of work over the projects. This page is updated slow so if the consumption of WUs is faster than the update then it had wrong numbers. This is especially bad when there isn't many WUs.

I also am having work issues. With the exception of Theory which I could never get to work on my computers, I have all other projects selected, yet I have gotten no work from the site in a week. Before that is was steady for at least a month.

Has something happened?

Toby. What sub project are you referring to? I already have told my project preferences to run everything except Theory. But all I get is Six Tracks, and I have not seen any of them in over a week. why am I not seeing any work for all the other sub projects?

Mike.

Hi Mike, maybe you don't have virtualbox, so your not able to get work from the other sub projects.

Check with Yetis' to make sure things are set correctly.

Toby, do you have an answer to the following question? When will Sixtrack WU's be available? Thanks.

Dear all,

thanks a lot for your requests! As I already mentioned in another thread:
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/forum_thread.php?id=3997#27782
dynamic aperture studies are slightly different from data analysis of experiments. In a SixTrack job, we don't scan measurements to find new particle physics, but we investigate configurations of high energy accelerators (needed to have the collisions that produce data for the experiments) in order to push performance. Hence, it can happen that work comes in "waves", depending on how the optimisation process evolves.

Thanks for your understanding!

so, lots of words & morphing focus & waves of WU's, still not sure about when WU's will again be generally available for Sixtrack? Please advise.
Thanks

There are sixtracktest tasks available currently.

Of current interest right now would be running these tasks on any machine that isn't x86 windows or linux if possible.

This would be arm32/64 or ppc64 (on linux) cpus, android devices, and x86 bsd including osx.

Well, I think that the analysts are still looking at past simulation results, and deciding the next steps.

In the meantime, we are testing some new exes with the sixtracktest app. If while waiting for new sixtrack tasks you would like to help us running some sixtacktest tasks, just edit your LHC@home preferences, ticking 'Run test applications' and 'sixtracktest', and you should get some tasks. I have submitted some new tasks for testing the brand new exes - please see also

Thanks a lot to everyone, and happy crunching!
