I am getting constantly that same error. Here's a snippet from stderr.txt
<core_client_version>7.6.22</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
The filename or extension is too long.
(0xce) - exit code 206 (0xce)
</message>
<stderr_txt>

I'll opt out of LHCb tasks for time being.

Still getting the above mentioned error on this host: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/results.php?hostid=10294511 but also some successful tasks. So how come only some of them fail? The error message would indicate that all should fail or does the filename/extension length change for different tasks?

Seems like these errors are caused by the task not being able to communicate with the Condor service.

The teams is working on these issues.

Please ignore the
The filename or extension is too long.
(0xce) - exit code 206 (0xce)

in the stderr output. Somehow this Windows exit code it misused.

Please watch the Exit status telling: 206 (0x000000CE) EXIT_INIT_FAILURE

Most of the time this means that no LHCb job is available.

This is what I see in my stderr output when I get the "206 (0x000000CE) EXIT_INIT_FAILURE" error:

2016-12-08 23:53:39 (6752): Guest Log: [INFO] LHCb application starting. Check log files.
2016-12-08 23:53:39 (6752): Guest Log: [DEBUG] HTCondor ping

2016-12-09 00:03:49 (6752): Guest Log: [ERROR] Condor exited after 616s without running a job.
2016-12-09 00:03:49 (6752): Guest Log: [INFO] Shutting Down.
2016-12-09 00:03:49 (6752): VM Completion File Detected.
2016-12-09 00:03:49 (6752): VM Completion Message: Condor exited after 616s without running a job.

So basically this is not a host problem, but rather just a result of a host looking for a certain type of when its not available server-side? It still seems strange that every one of my LHCb tasks has erred out this way for several days straight now. According to the server status page, LHCb tasks are available...perhaps that's why Toby suggested that this is a communications issue and not the server actually being out of LHCb work?

The server status on the BOINC website it the number of wrappers available for download, for this project I think this is probably meaningless, as I expected there generated automatically.

As CP said the VM could find no work when it connects to the CERN Condor service to get work.

I have had quite a lot of those errors recently.

https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=119329363
https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=119335120
I initially thought my PC was having some issues, but now I understand it is a normal error when there are no jobs available an the server.
I keep having LHCb tasks lately, would you recommend that I disable LHCb from my project preferences in order to reduce the number of volunteers on this project?

And one more: https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/result.php?resultid=119344511
