Hi Kathryn,
In a similar way to other sites collecting credit data, this site collects User of the Day data.
Each project picks a UotD at random from all participants who have bothered to create a profile. It bears no relation to total credit or recent credit and anyone without a profile doesn't qualify for selection even if they are the top cruncher.
Just another bit of fun, like Boinc credits themselves.

By pure chance, I'm UotD at Atlas today.

Oh for crying out loud. I had no idea. I thought I'd been hacked. Thanks for explaining that.

Yeah that has always been a bit silly since the beginning of Boinc.

Seems like they could easily pick members who are really here doing something instead of most of the time being members who haven't been here for years and really didn't do much when they were.

But then I got that *user of the day* 8 times at the T4T-vLHC ........not that it is a Nobel Prize but I am one of just a few that have been there since the day it started and actually doing work every day (and spending our money)

Some members try to just get credit on every Boinc project and then there are us that are particle physics geeks who keep this LHC and the vLHC and now Atlas running.

(and Einstein GPU's)

Just noticed I am starting my 11th year here too.

Usually the user of the day is someone that has modified his profile. If nobody modified his profile, it's picked at random. If you want to become user of the day, simple update your profile.
