And the fact is, based on your other post. You are not experiencing any problems with the screensaver, or the Graphics in general.

So why are you even posting to this thread?

And since I have already stated, that the screensaver works with Stock Windows installation. (Which I believe has DirectX v7.0) And with DirectX versions 8.1 and 8.2. But, does not work with DirectX v9.0. And yet, I have never had the screensaver, the graphics, work with DirectX v9.0b & 9.0c. Then it is an issue with DirectX 9.xx.

It might be a problem with the implementation of DirectX with Windows 2000. Or it might be the way sixtrack uses the calls to DirectX. I really can not say for sure.

But, I can tell you this. My nVidia Ti4600 is not a "Sub-Standard" video card, old maybe but not "Sub-Standard". Even if it was, then based on your thinking. I should not have been able to display the graphics for LHC or even Seti, even with the stock Windows installation. Or even with any version of DirectX.

But, that is not the case. I am able to diplay the Seti graphics without any problem. It is only with the LHC that I am unable to display the graphics.

Even with my Voodoo 4500 video card, for with is a truly a "Sub-Standard" video card. I am able to display the sixtrack graphics without any problems. The only time I have problems is with the screensaver. And I believe it to be caused by the drivers implementation of the OpenGL. For which the card was not even designed to display.

As I have also stated before, this is only with 1 system. My other system is a XP Home edition. And it has DirectX v9.0c installed on it. And it have a very, very, very "Sub-Standard" video. It is using the S3 Savage Pro that is built into the motherboard. And it has no problems displaying the LHC graphics. In fact that same machine is also doing ClimatePrediction@Home. And it has no problems display CP@H's graphics either.

I'm having the same screensaver issues. The problem can't be related to DirectX. If DirectX was the problem both the screensaver and the graphics shown by clicking 'show graphics' from within Boinc manager wouldn't work. Since the problem only involves the screensaver and the graphics from within Boinc manager are perfectly ok it must be related to the LHC program. I don't understand why this problem isn't mentioned in the 'known problems' section of the LHC website and why, after all this time, this problem still hasn't been solved. I also posted a message in this thread: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1492 which I found before this one. It only illustrates that people are still having this problem which deserves attention!

Oh and this thread: http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1157#5867 also discusses the same problem.

Hello

I am running Windows XP service pack 2 with all updates, including the latest version of DirectX 9. I have 768 megs RAM and an nVidia FX500 with 256 megs RAM onboard (not the latest and greatest, but not a total loss as a video card. The graphic shows perfectly when manually requested to do so, but will not run automatically in "screensaver" mode. Your systems will show that I am not running LHC at the moment, but my comments are still relevant as my hardware is unchanged - I was back here to check if a newer version of the program has been released to solve this problem. The admins have my e-mail address if any further info might be of use.

Clearly the problem discussed in this (most recent replied to) thread and also in these long forgotten threads:

http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1492
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1157
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/forum_thread.php?id=1238

is never going to be resolved. This, unfortunately, forces me to remove this project form my system.
