I believe #26139 was your post, but I see the one other word that was capitalized twice in the post you are referencing. Touche on finding another trivial emphasis that typically doesn't mean shouting even though it is in all caps. Shouting usually involves more words being capitalized in succession but you know that already.

Don't put words in mouth or ideas in my head. A rose by any other name is still a rose and shouting, no matter if it's 1 word or several in succession is still shouting.

Now it appears you're not happy with me being trivial. Good! Because now you know how I feel about you being trivial.

But you are technically correct that italics or underlining would probably have been more appropriate there.

I would like you to quote where I said VB is a stupid idea?

My mistake and I apologize for it. It was Ken Sharp who said it. Due to my inattention to who quoted what I mistakenly attributed it to you.

I also don't see apps being installed by BOINC as you say. What project is installing software? They download files and run them, but I don't see them being installed. This is a huge security concern if they are. Not all programs require installation. Or are you using the term installation very loosely? I'm assuming the latter.

I was using the term loosely, yes. To my way of thinking if it's a binary (executable) and it's on your disk and in a runnable state then it's installed. By "runnable state" I mean the executable flag is set and the file is not corrupt though on Linux systems that definition fails the stringency test. I suppose on Windows systems and to Windows users installed means more like "on your disk and registered in Registry". BOINC doesn't do that with any project apps I know of though it does do so with VB, of course.

Where did I say you couldn't ask questions with implications?

You implied (perhaps "hinted at it" is a better way to put it) in several places. No, I'm not going to quote all the phrases lest others think you and I are Chip 'n Dale.

Good job on turning a potentially constructive thread into a epic, yet useless flamewar. You both showed great misuse of of the intellectual dictionary :(

Now please stop it, so someone can say something useful here. My head is exploding after 3 pages of banter.

The intellectual dictionary.... sorry, I Googled "intellectual dictionary" and got 0 hits. Is that one of your own works and if so why have you not put it online so the rest of us can be as intellectual as you? You can hardly expect us to keep up with your genius if you don't share it with us.

Whatever your intellectual dictionary is or wherever you've hidden it, I feel you are insinuating that Chip and I are not intellectual. If you intend to continue with more flames be advised my flamethrower is powered up and ready. It might not be an intellectual flamethrower but it will toast your butt.

What are the plans for this year, from a scientific point of view? Will we compute mostly high-luminosity-LHC WUs, or mostly 14-TeV-LHC WUs? Will there be an increase in work load when approaching to the restart of the LHC next year?
