I am seeing almost all Tasks ending with an Error Result. However, they Validat okay. The Tasks in question have a estimated duration of 5+ hours but all end with less than 5 minutes running time. Here is my "Tasks" page: http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/results.php?userid=75646 Typical Task Results is HERE. What is happening? |

Hi Tom, There's nothing wrong at your end. It's pure chance whether you get a long run or a short run, although they probably appear in batches. The estimate is based on your previous work but will not necessarily be accurate for an individual work unit. Each wu has its own simulation of the beam and if that configuration results in the beam hitting the wall early on then the wu finishes early. Your results are validating against wingmen with similar run times. The short runs are just as useful as the long ones as they quickly show a beam setup which is wrong and therefore one to be avoided. |

Thanks for the correct explanation Ray. However I will have a look on Monday, as maybe the initial conditions are ill-defined. We normally check that locally with a few batch jobs. Thanks for pointing out and we shall see.... Eric. |
