Ok, I got a load of really short tasks on the i7-950 box, hurried over to the Boinc-Data directory under LHC Projects and looky looky what I seen there!!

There are a bunch of ZERO length task ZIP files in there... and I bet that is the problem with hundreds of "few second long" tasks...

Maybe maybe???

I looked in there because I just got a bunch of short tasks again...

The TIMES are after the Task ID... all 00:00:01 and I saw them whip through... Seems I have more like them in the wings...

Had this happen on the Win7-800D box and now it seems the server has banned that box and won't send more tasks there...

Oh... as an extra, the box setup is:

I7-950 CPU 3.6GHz water cooled
12Gig DDR3

Windows 7 64b

BOINC 7.0.28

System is flawless for a year now and still runs strong.

I bet them were a lot of those ZERO length zip file tasks that downloaded...

Here is what is left in the directory expanded to see the task numbers...

I bet them zero length zips are the next group to rush through...

Just caught this funny download that froze up... more ZERO length files I think...

Hope all this helps...

I do have a load of GOOD tasks running now... we will see if I get any more shorties..

:)

PS: I hope it isn't a router problem on my end or something.... this problem happens on ALL my boxes...

These tasks are a symptom of the project running out of disk space.

Since several servers are 'disabled' I guess the admins are working on it.

It's also mentioned over here: http://lhcathomeclassic.cern.ch/sixtrack/forum_thread.php?id=3462

It's the server running out of disk space.

Well, disks, even SSDs are rather dirt cheap today compared to 10 years ago...

Newegg and TigerDirect counterparts in Europe can sell ya'll whatever you need.

Seriously... disk space doesn't have to be so complicated...

I hate to see one of my boxes banned because of a server disk space problem..
