News from Saturday, 14th July. 1. The MAC executable has been withdrawn until we solve a "Bus Error" produced by probably boinc_zip. 2. We now seem to be sending the correct executable (generic, sse2/sse3, pni) on both Linux and Windows. To be confirmed. 3. Is Elapsed Time Exceeded resolved? 4. The database is OK now but we lost a lot of work for which no database entry existed because we had cleaned it and upset some? or many? users. Lost Credit and wasted CPU. 5. We are validating two results from same computer! NOT good. 6. I am running two studies of around 100,000 Work Units each and I am getting lots of good results. All in all much improved and I shall try and send a "Whatever Happendd to LHC@home report tomorrow. Eric. |

I have 2 work units running on my machine at the moment, and one is using the pni application and the other is using the sse2 application! According to the Boinc Manager, my Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss ht tm pbe nx constant_tsc pebs bts pni dtes64 monitor ds_cpl cid xtpr Why isn't the same application used for both work units? Which should be the correct application for my processor (Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz [Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1])? Does the server need to be tweaked a bit more to ensure that the correct application is sent out and used for running work units on a particular processor, or is there something about the work units which require that a particular application must be used to crunch them? The biggest threat to public safety and security is not terrorism, it is Government abuse of authority. Bitcoin Donations: 1Le52kWoLz42fjfappoBmyg73oyvejKBR3 |

Since yesterday I have received two work units which say they are 100 hour tasks on the remaining time estimate. They are short dated 10th and 11th August - There is no way I can provide that many hours in that short a time - My PC isn't on 24/7 - maybe four out of 24 hours. Is there an error in the estimates? I have noticed though that the time remaining is going down by about 12 seconds every second, but the estimate isn't getting revised. Mark |
